Looks like they suspended activities of all IFC fraternities, not all fraternities. There are fraternities not under the IFC (they are under the MCGC or NPHC).

Correct. I never really hear about the multicultural/historically black fraternities being shut down anywhere. Does it even happen?

Also, sororities were not shut down in this move.

I think there are many fewer historically black fraternities and I also think that they have not been the ones experiencing the deaths of their pledges. Maybe they don’t drink quite as heavily? idk

I don’t think sororities have experienced the death of pledges either. I think they do their share of stupid things, but it is rare that someone dies from it. The list of students deaths related to greek life is very male and very white.

@OHMomof2 The hazing is more typically more physical within NPHC.

Interesting @MaterS - I do remember the Asian fraternity pledge who died in NJ or PA - the Poconos.

From the Lantern article: "Ohio State decided to punish all IFC chapters, not just those being investigated for conduct violations.

“When individual members or organizations fail to live up to the standards and values set forth by the university, your chapters and your international organizations, the entire Greek community suffers,” Lovell wrote."
