I've been admitted to both and with scholarships both will cost nearly the same amount. Im going to be majoring in finance/or econ. Which would be better for future career prospects?(I plan on getting an mba after working for 1-2 years)

DePaul. Better reputation and more opportunities/resources in Chicago.

DePaul is not in the same class academically as Ohio State, that is a ridiculous statement. OSU is a nationally ranked flagship university. Depaul is a regional school.

“both will cost nearly the same amount”

Run your numbers, and see just exactly how close they are. There may be enough difference to sway you one way or the other: [FinAid | Calculators | Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Award Letter Requirements - Finaid)

MBA admission is highly dependent on your work experience. Pick up the phone and call the Career Center at each university, and have a chat with the folks there about their recruitment calendars and job placement for students in your major.

im not too worried about rankings, I really want to work in chicago after undergrad and then apply to bschool at northwester or uchicago

If you want to work in Chicago, go to DePaul. DePaul is Chicago’s undergraduate business school. Huge alumni network starting from “Hizzoner DaMare” and reaching well into every major accounting firm, law firm, bank and corporation in the city.

Not to say that tOSU is not a well regarded flagship, but like politics, in Chicago business, everything is local.

Your chances of getting into NW or UChicago will be heightened by doing well at OSU - and thanks for making my point sparkeye.
