Hi guys. I'm a Vietnamese . i'm wondering these schools for my sophomore in the US. i'm gonna apply as an international student for Computer Science, the total cost of attendance are nearly the same. Anyone has any ideas how good or bad they are ? Social life, outdoor activities, Football, dorms, facilities ... ?
Which one is better at CS, can i get a decent job after graduating from those schools ?
How about student friendliness toward Asian ?
My friends living in Texas said the weather there are quite hot, and Texas A&M's atmosphere is so hard to breath, boiling , not as fresh as Iowa or Ohio, not many green space. Is that true ?
Tks for your advises. oh and by the way if my mom pay all the cost of attendance, books, room, dining and give me $10,000. Do u think with that $10k, can i live well in a year, i mean paying for cloth, shopping, extra food.

Both are similar academically, with A&M having a slight edge in STEM fields. Both are big sports schools with lots of spirit-Football is huge at both.
Texas A&M pretty good dorms compared to other big state universities. You can choose to live in Mosher hall your freshman year-suite style rooms, and a very tight knit community.
A&M has a reputation of being rather conservative politically, and it’s true in a lot of ways. However, generally, everyone gets along regardless of ethnicity, religious beliefs etc. (I say this as an ethnic minority). A&M is within driving distance of Texas hill country, and there are a lot of outdoor activities within a one hour driving radius of college station. The A&M campus itself has a LOT of green space.

College station is in a very low cost of living area. After COA< $10,00 is enough for almost 4 years, assuming you don’t live an extravagant life style.
Texas is hot. But you’ll probably be gone during the summer (back home or visiting family) so you’ll be in CS for maybe 2 brutal months, then it becomes fairly mild.

thanks for that, it’s very helpful if u were me, what would you choose ? i have no problem in making friend with white, i have lots of white friends in Iowa since i was here for my summer vacation, but i’m a little bit worry about “conservative” in Texas A&M. i love green space and fresh air, trees, grass, i quite don’t need big city surrounding school. Do u suggest any similar schools at the same level as them

In any field related to Engineering, TAMU is elite. And College Station is a pleasant place to live. If you do not like warm weather though, do keep in mind that the months of August, September and May are warm (average highs in the 30-40 degrees centigrade range).
