Ohio State question

I applied to ohio state for early action but still haven’t heard back. Does anyone know when they are coming out?

In hindsight I think Early Action was a misnomer. Somebody on these forums wrote recently they had called Admissions and was told that not all EA decisions have been released. And that it could take through end of this month. You might call to confirm. Good luck!

I just checked my daughter’s portal and it says the decision has been deferred to the end of March. That would be the same time as regular admission, I suppose. My other daughter was accepted and received a letter about a week ago. The difference is one had higher SAT scores and is interested in a STEM field. The other is interested in liberal arts. We are out of state but I’m an alumna. I’m surprised she didn’t get in EA with 3.97 unweighted gpa, 1300 SAT, 10th percentile of graduating class, good ECs. We’ll see what happens in March. Does anyone know if EA is harder to be accepted than RD? I don’t want her to hold out hope if it is unlikely she’ll be accepted.

Son got deferred yesterday also. Pretty shocked!

Sorry to hear about all these Deferrals .OSU (and similar schools) is known to be very holistic when they review the applications. Based on some of the stats posted here, it is indeed surprising how some applicants were not able to get accepted. There are so many reasons why applicants get deferred and in some cases it is impossible to get an answer. This is happening at every school. Kids with perfect stats are getting rejected at Georgia Tech and Stanford as well.

There are many reasons for these deferrals or rejections. Strength of school or courses taken? To many applicants from the same school, location, or area? Too many applicants with similar stats? Too many applicants looking for the same major? URM? And as much as I hate to say this, it might just come down to the essay. I have read so many essays, and half of them have been poorly written.

As far as getting accepted after being deferred, it is going to come down to how many accepted applicants have committed to the University and how strong is the pool of applicants left. The good news is that many will get accepted, however, merit might be limited.

That’s really surprising…is the SAT score below their median? Did she take the ACT?

Ok so i called and apparently i sent my transcripts late so they moved me to regular decision
