Hello!
I recently was accepted into OSU, into their business program. I hope on hearing back from other colleges; however, on the chance I attend OSU, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what my chances would be of breaking into a Wall Street job (i-banking) from OSU? I know Fisher has this program called “Fisher Futures,” but from what I’ve seen, it’s very selective and I couldn’t find any success rate of getting people in. Feedback would be much appreciated- thank you!
OSU does have somewhat of a presence on Wall Street and probably will have much more of one when you graduate. That being said, IB is going to be tough to break intoat pretty much any non-target. At Ohio State if you keep you’re GPA up and network your butt off (through the OSU alumni, and on your own) you will definitely have a decent to good chance of getting on to Wall Street.I’m not a member of Fisher Futures but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.Just my two cents.
I attended the Visit Fisher Day in early March. I met with a student that will internship this summer at Wall Street. My take was that Ohio State has a lot of resources. Hightly motivated students will seize the opportunities available to them. Like said by rocketboi10, high GPA and networking are necessary. It won’t just happen, specially for IB at Wall Street.
@Pase66 and @lab99 If you go to Ohio state and want an IB Wall Street job, you should try and join the Buckeye Capital Investment club, a student organization in Fisher that provides experience similar to a real-world asset management investment firm. However it is selective to get into that club, requiring both a separate application (during first or second semester) and an interview. If you can get into that club it will be a great extracurricular experience that should help you in your job search. I am not sure how Fisher Futures differs from the Buckeye Capital Investment club.
