What’s up guys? Just applied to OSU and I was wondering if I have any chance of getting in.

Background: I was born in Columbus, Ohio. I moved to Pennsylvania in 1999. My parents lived in Columbus from 1988 to 1999. My dad was an associate professor at Ohio State Medical Center and my mother got her Master’s Degree from Ohio State for Nursing.

Activities:
-Volunteered 200+ hours at a Rehabilitation Hospital.
-Played Varsity Soccer for 2 years.
-Played JCC Basketball all throughout high school.
-Worked at Pacific Sunwear 100+ hours so far this year, and I worked at a Food Market 400+ hours last year.
-Key Club & Spanish Club, just a member.

Should I send in teacher recommendations? Or maybe have some of my dad’s friends who worked at OSU at one point write letters to the admissions office? What else can I do to better my chances?

I’m already accepted at:

Auburn University
University of Alabama
Ohio Univerisity
Temple University

While I'm no expert, my guess is that your SAT and GPA are low for the Columbus campus based on how the freshman class stats are improving year to year. I'd say it is a bit of a reach. But you never know.

I dont know if your knowing people there will have much of an advantage unless theyre right in the Admissions Office and happen to read your paper.

Unless you rocked the ACT, i'd say chances are slim.

You need either the SAT or the ACT, not both.

Your SAT scores are okay although the critical reading is a little low for OSU.
We have seen kids with GPA's over 3.0 rejected. Your GPA looks too low for OSU unless your class rank is good because grades are tough at your school.

If you really want to go to OSU and they reject you, you can go to one of the regional campuses for a year and then seemlessly transfer over to Columbus.
