What's up guys? Just applied to OSU and I was wondering if I have any chance of getting in.

Background: I was born in Columbus, Ohio. I moved to Pennsylvania in 1999. My parents lived in Columbus from 1988 to 1999. My dad was an associate professor at Ohio State Medical Center and my mother got her Master's Degree from Ohio State for Nursing.

Activities:
-Volunteered 200+ hours at a Rehabilitation Hospital.
-Played Varsity Soccer for 2 years.
-Played JCC Basketball all throughout high school.
-Worked at Pacific Sunwear 100+ hours so far this year, and I worked at a Food Market 400+ hours last year.
-Key Club & Spanish Club, just a member.

Should I send in teacher recommendations? Or maybe have some of my dad's friends who worked at OSU at one point write letters to the admissions office? What else can I do to better my chances?

I'm already accepted at:

Auburn University
University of Alabama
Ohio Univerisity
Temple University

It's not going to be easy at all, even with your connection. There are kids at my school with 3.2-3.5's/1800's who got deferred, an, in some cases, rejected.

You're going to do some major work to make yourself look as good as the other, currently in-state students. Your scores and GPA are what really nail you though. Unfortunately, a big school like OSU focuses on numbers because they don't have the time to view applicants holistically. Not saying that you have a 0% shot or anything, but don't get your hopes up. OSU is (believe it or not) trying to put itself on the same academic plane as Michigan.

Will recommendations and maybe a letter to them help me at all?
I had a friend who was rejected from UPitt earlier this year and wrote them a letter and got accepted afterwards.

I'm afraid it's a considerable reach ... the SATs are acceptable for OSU ... but the GPA is what hurts you ... being OOS makes it a little bit more difficult as well ... it's not impossible for you to get in, but it isn't too likely.

Thanks man. I've grown up an Ohio State fan. It's my dream school. I slacked off a lot in high school and just did the sport thing. I bleed scarlet and grey and I'm willing to go to any length to get in. You think recommendations or maybe a letter to the admissions office regarding my interest in the school would benefit me at all?
