I have stated this before in this forum but I have not received a good answer. When I ask people if it is difficult to transfer to Ohio State University, they usually say "yes." The reason I am puzzled is that according to collegeboard.com, 4,178 people applied to the school last year as transfer students and 3,543 were granted admission. That is an acceptance rate of 84%. Is there some sort of catch to this? It seems like it would be relatively easy to transfer to?

easy is an ambigious term, depends what you mean by it. but yea shouldnt be too hard

I’ve been told that if you can spell your name correctly on an OSU application then you are going to get in. It was said in a rude way but I guess that insinuates its relatively easy. (I go to Michigan haha).

My friend did a year and a half at a local CC and just transferred to UM-College Park. UM has like a 50 or 60% transfer rate. OSU has 80&+, and you are asking if it is hard? Honestly, there is no catch, it is easy to transfer if you have the grades in college. Good luck, I know this doesn’t help you much but it is the honest to god truth. What is your college GPA?

3.2 for the first semester at a 4 year school. It should be higher this semester.

your friend who transferred to Maryland, where did he go to community college? Also, what colleges did he apply to and get accepted?

I imagine a good portion of transfer students are those coming from one of the other branches. Often people will spend a year or two years at OSU-Mansfield or whatever, and then transfer into Main Campus. It’s a pretty common practice, so OSU is usually pretty friendly to transfers. Good luck!

is it possible to transfer to Ohio State from an out of state community college?
