Ohio University Gateway Award?

I'm a senior this year and (hopefully) will be attending OU in the fall. I finally achieved a 32 composite on my ACT, and I have a 3.9 GPA with all AP & Honors classes. I received a letter from OU yesterday saying I will get $5,000. What happened to the automatic merit Gateway scholarship valued at full-tuition? That scholarship has been consistent for a few years now and I was really counting on that to help me pay for my education... I can't even find it on their website. Did they do away with it? Is there any hope for me possibly getting something comparable?

Unfortunately, it looks like the Gateway award is no longer available.

This is a cached page from google, which specifically states that the Gateway program is for Fall 2013. The new program is their signature program, [The OHIO Signature Awards: Ohio University Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.ohio.edu/admissions/signature/index.cfm).

The only full-tuition award I see here is the OHIO Premier, which is available for Honors College students. Definitely call them and ask if becomeing a Premier scholar is selective, or if the full-tuition is guarenteed if you choose to participate in the Honors College.

My daugther got the same letter with the same $5000 award. I googled and found some notes where they are working to make their awards more like Ohio State and Bowling Green. I guess they decided they would rather have more, middle of the road, students than a few less but competitive ones. It’s sad because I think they will lose the higher performing students to other schools.

^ probably to Miami, which still has great merit scholarships for those stats - half to full tuition.

It may not be too late to apply: “*Priority *consideration for the full amount in the ranges below will be given to students applying for admission by December 1, 2013.”

Apply to Alabama. If you apply soon you’ll get the free tuition scholarship there. The app is EZ…takes like 5 minutes!!! Also submit the scholarship app…a formality. No essays, no LORs.

You’d be accepted after the New Year and have your full tuition award at that time too.
