I think 32 ACT score is average, and admissions are holistic. You will need to interview. If you are accepted, you may get scholarships that cover the cost of tuition.

So they dont look at Gpa or Ec’s??? @MACmiracle

Ohio University does not have a traditional Honors College or Program. They have an Honors Tutorial College which is quite selective ((a few hundred a year are selected for a class of around 180 or so) and different as you take one on one courses with your tutorial professor and have the flexibility to design your own curriculum. It’s patterned after the tutorial system at Oxford in England.

Certain colleges within the university have their own Honors Programs but you’ll need to see what their qualifications are. There is also the Scholars program but I don’t know too much about that or the qualifications or benefits.

As I said, admissions are holistic. In other words, they look at everything.

As @lvvcsf clarified, it’s the Honors Tutorial College. It’s very selective, and some majors more than others.

You work very closely with a professor so interviews are very important. It would be hard to be successful if you and the professor you would be working with are not a good match.

"So they don’t look at Gpa or Ec’s???

GPA and ECs are part of the whole in holistic. Everything is considered. As they mention in their description of the program they prefer a minimum ACT of 30 and SAT of 1300. What do you intend to study? The HTC has 32 areas of study available and they accept a few students each year for each major. The professors can’t handle more than a few tutorial students each since they require so much one on one time. It is a great program for a student who has a definite goal and wants a more independent path to that goal.

You initially apply to the program by the suggested date. It is a separate application from the university application and more involved. They will review your application and from their applications they normally invite around half or so of the applicants to interview. Those interviewed are notified I believe sometime in February if they are accepted. It is a good program for the right people but it is not a program for those who want the word honor next to their degree or are simply looking for a better financial aid package.
