I’ll be REALLY surprised if you don’t get in.

I’d say no. Only thing that might save you is being a 1st generation college student, but since you went to an “elite” private school, not sure you’ve got that working.

Your grades and test scores put you in the bottom tenth of the last few years of freshman classes. In other words, you’ve got a shot but not a great one.

I’d apply, play up your strengths…but have some safety options.

confused_female, are you joking?

the average ACT is now 27.3 at Ohio State. The EC’s are very solid, but at big publics like OSU, they arent nearly as important as scores and grades. the ACT score and GPA are very low for OSU. I am in-state and many of my peers get rejected with either the same test scores and very high GPA, or the same GPA and considerably higher test scores. Many people from my school have been getting rejected with similar GPA’s and ACT scores of 27, 28, and even 29-30’s.

that being said, the quality of your high school will help and i did not mean to imply that your grades or ACT scores were BAD, OSU is just incredibly competitive these days.

my advice is to try and take the ACT again, with preparation beforehand, as well as writing a killer essay. if you can boost your ACT even a few points i feel it will considerably increase your chances.

Retake your tests if you can. Your status are too low, I think, to get in otherwise - but you’re super involved so that’s good.

You’re in a lot of groups and clubs. Emphasize the ones in which you are a leader, or else it just looks like you’re a joiner, which is actually negative. I mean, member of the cooking club isn’t something you need to include… co-captain of track and field is better.

I had similar stats and didnt get in, i went to a CC for year and got in easily.

You won’t be able to take either test again and still have the scores be submitted in time, I think the last time you were able to do so was in October. If you really want to attend OSU, you should submit your application if you haven’t already, but consider it a high reach, and apply to a few safety schools as well. You can always transfer in if you can improve at another school. Sorry.

are you guys sure about the ACT?
because i was just reading a scholarship that said that they wanted ATLEAST a 23 to be considered…

Your ACT is below average, if you had a higher GPA you get away with it, but the combo of both doesnt look good. Sorry.

The middle 50% range is 26-30, with 27% scroring 30+ and an average of 27.3. A 23 only means that they’ll take a look at your app. It doesn’t guarantee anything. Nobody is getting into Ohio State these days with a 23 without some serious mitigating circumstances.

You statistically have a chance, so definitely apply…just realize that it’s a serious reach school for you.

that really doesn’t answer my question.
but my SAT is better, according to the SAT-ACT equivalencies. do you think that’ll help?

Which question do you still need answered?
