My school bases class rank from weighted GPA. Because of this, my rank is pretty good. I am almost top 5% in a very competitive public school. In fact, it is the most competitive non-magnet public school in the state. However, my unweighted GPA is not so good. Unlike many 4.0 GPA kids here on CC I have a couple of Bs and even a C. (In my defense, someone who also got a C in that class got into Harvard) In fact, my parents later forced me to drop the C class. What do you think this means for me?

It depends upon your situation, but you’re not doomed.

I had a rank of top ~6%, but a GPA of 3.65 with a bunch of Bs freshman and sophomore years and even two Cs. My junior and senior year grades were better, rank was on weighted GPA, and I got a high SAT score. Admissions was hit/miss, but I did get into Notre Dame.
Focus on getting as good grades as you can, and compliment them with a high SAT/ACT and great essays.

Thanks for your advice
