Finals have already begun and go until the 18th. You won't be able to visit classes.
Depending on when kids finish with their finals, a lot may have already left by Tuesday.

Good luck with the application. It's a great place.

Yes, I know. It was the only time we could fit a visit in. He needed to have an interview because he is home schooled, so it made sense to go ahead and get it done. He is also scheduled for the overnight in January, so he'll get a better picture of the school then.

Does anyone have any idea when the EA applicants will start to hear their decisions? I thought that in previous years they had already started hearing by now.

Trinity is becoming almost irrelevant in Son's mind. If he doesn't hear by Christmas, I think Trinity will all but drop off the list. We need to narrow down the schools and make second visits. Son already has some nice options and schools that haven't given admit decisions (Trinity) or made merit aid offers (Tulsa) may well just be forgotten about. Son has Asperger's, so there are a lot of issues that merit careful attention (e.g. housing, individual prof attention), plus things like choir auditions, so we need to narrow down the list soon.

I think things have changed since my D went through the cycle 2 years ago, but the web page says EA notification Feb.1, so you may have a while. Another difference was that 2 years ago there was no supplementary essay. Your son has some great choices, BTW.

Yeah, I read that. Southwestern's web site said 2/15 and he found out about that one on 12/12, so I was hoping Trinity would be early, too. I also checked Tulsa's web site, and it says that merit aid award letters come out in February. Sounds like it will be another six weeks or so until all the pieces are in place. Son isn't stressed in the least - he lets me take care of that!

HMM, why change things so frequently? It doesn't help old folks like me!
OT, but D arrives tomorrow w/her roommate who is from SA, never flown, never been north of Dallas, will have to use one of D's winter coats, scarf, the whole get-up. We live near Chicago, so she is in for an adventure.

gloworm happy landings to your D and her roommate!

fendrock I was palpitating at the thought that DDs had missed the part of the application where it asked for a supplemental essay. Glad to see they didn't.

So yesterday Son received a handwritten happy holidays postcard from the admissions office...if I recall, it wished him a relaxing winter break, which is funny because it wouldl be more relaxing if they'd go ahead and admit him!

Cute Missypie and yep, ironic too but still better than what they got yesterday; notification that both girls were missing letters of rec. for their files. I faxed them and today one recieved an email confirming it had been received but the other did not ACK!! I guess we'll give it a day or two but my paranoid twin mom brain is screaming that they aren't realizing that the history girls are two different applicants. Any advice or sedatives would be happily accepted.

Oh historymom, no wonder you're posting at that hour! I'd be tearing my hair out. I wish I could send you some of the cookies I've been baking all week and a glass of milk with a tylenol PM chaser.

Historymom, I don't think you're being paranoid...it is entirely possible that they think they are getting duplicates of things. I do think you should call after the first of the year....maybe they could flag the files with a big note like, "Yes, this is a different person!

First negative comments - bound to happen sooner or later.

Well, at a Christmas party, someone with a need to share let me know the reasons her friend's freshman d left Trinity unhappy mid-year. :( (Someone has to be unhappy, right?)

BTW - not repeating the comments, as I have no gauge on accuracy.

Last night, Son narrowed his list of 8 down to 4....as the furthest away (and the ones that have not given either admissions and/or merit aid decisons) Trinity and Tulsa are off the list. I'm sure both could spring to the top of the list with good merit aid awards, but for now, we aren't planning a second visit.

well ignatius there has to be one right? :) Sorry your aquaintance's friend's D was not happy but all those other kids can't be wrong ;)

Cruel joke today...two skinny envelopes came from TU, one for each girl. I didn't know what to expect but turns out ther were just informing them that the admissions office was looking forward to reading thier files. The letters were copies of emails received last week :(

Hmmm...Son got the card, but not the "we're reading your file" letter...He did get a flyer about opportunities to visit...I look for clues, like if it's just a flyer for admitted students, but no...
