Ok I Have a Question About GPA and C. Admissions [Sophomore in High School] HELP!

Something has been bothering me, and it keeps getting worse evey time I view these threads. In 8th Grade I took High School Algebra and IPS. I got all A's all quarters. On the Exam I did fine on Algebra, but in IPS I got a C on the Exam both times. So that means A A C which = B for Semester twice But Still A average. When taking these two classes I had no idea back then this would be going in my High School GPA (I thought it was just going in middle school grades). I didn't study for either exam because this and didn't take it seriously. Plus back then I didn't think about these things with my GPA, and how this would affect me when applying to colleges, I mean in 8th grade not many kids know how these things work, and don't think of these things. I even tried asking to retake it online on FLVS, but right now I don't think they offer it.

If I would know what I knew now I would of tried harder on this. 9th grade comes my dad puts me in an AP Class without my permission, I ended up getting bad teacher BLAH BLAH BLAH I would of been ready to start AP's in 10th grade. Last year, taking the AP I was having a hard time adjusting to my work. It ended up at first affecting me in two other classes resulting in a B in an AP Class and 2 B's in an Honors Class, my 4 other Honors classes I had A's. Next Semester I have adjusted more to the schedule, but it still affected me in one class (1st period class) I got 1 B in an AP Class and 1 B in an Honors Class. 5 A's in other Honors Classes.

This made my GPA at the end of Freshman year a sad 3.62 GPA UW. I took advise and promised myself to do better next year, and not do an AP Course just to fix my GPA just in case. Back to the AP, this teacher was new and gave a ton of work. Seriously we had only one A in AP Human Geo Class the whole year, the other teacher who taught I heard was a better teacher, and was not as harsh with grades. Now in 10th Grade. Right now I'm mentally able to and can handle AP Classes. The teacher I had for AP Human Geo was so bad she doesn't even teach the class anymore. I would of gotten the better teacher, and I would've been more successful in the class if I would of waited.

Well this is over so I can't worry about it. I just think about how much better I would of done in the AP Class if I would of waited. 3 Quarters in 10th grade I have all A's every quarter, I joined a number of clubs, in sports. By the end of this year I will have a 3.786 UW and about a 4.9 Weighted I just lok back and see these mistakes from 8th and 9th grade, and it does make me a little sad and worried. I'm taking 4 AP's next year, and not worried if I can handle them or not because I know I can. Lol yesterday, I even plugged in my faults from 8th and my 3.786 UW would be a 3.89 UW or somewhere around there.

Then I think about 9th too and how that affected my GPA. I just think my GPA would have been so much better if these things didn't happen. Basically getting all A's next year would leave me 3.786 to ___> to about a 3.85 UW GPA and about a 5. 5 or IDK maybe higher? weighted? I just don't want to rely on getting all A's and freak myself out.

After viewing these threads, I'm scared to ever get a B again. I want to go to schools such as Northwestern or UPENN. At UPENN I'm an 12 person Alumni ( Grandfather, Uncles, Great Uncles, Aunts, Great Aunts, Cousins, Father's Cousins) I just want to know if I'm even still in the running. I know during early Admission they will only see everything until my Junior Grades. I'm trying my hardest to raise my GPA. But if I somehow get a few B's next year, somehow my GPA coukld go back to the 3.7's (Lol if I somehow did bad.... lower?)

But if I get All A's next year again with my 4 AP Classes my 3.786 UW could become about a 3.85 UW. I'm just a high school student trying to fix a bad situation. But are my hopes over with NW and UPENN if I don't keep my 3.84 or 3.85 UW next year? (and have maybe higher than a 5.5 W next year?) and worse comes to worse I somehow go to the 3.7's. Or any suggestions about retaking the class from 8th? Lol don't take this thread wrong I'm calm just a littler nervous.

Sorry this probably sounds like a rant, or doesn't makes sense. I wrote it really quickly and just wrote whatever came to my mind. I didn't read over what I wrote, and I'm in no mood to fix my mistakes after writing this. Just try to understand whatever doesn't makes sense. So excuse my grammar. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try making your post more reader friendly :)

And, a couple of Bs won't kill you. As long as your gpa is 3.75+ you're fine, but having a 3.8+ is even better.

Yeah again.... this kinda came out looking like a rant. Sorry next time I'll make more well constructed post. :)

Anyone hmm???

TLDR.

10char.

Whoa, only a 4.9 weighted? You should just kill yourself now, to remove yourself from the gene pool.

Onwards and upwards.

You're in good shape, no need to worry about a few Bs in the past.

........ yes, but according to all everyone's chance threads Weighted doesn't really matter unless your going to in state.

Weighted isn't really looked at, but it's a good indication of course load + unweighted, which in your case is pretty solid.

what's the max weighted gpa?

4.9 sounds good but obviously it's not out of 5 because you wouldn't be able to have >1 point higher weighted lulz

i didn't really read this but don't worry; you sound fine. one or two mediocre grades won't make a huge difference in the general scheme of your app.

I said it's about 4.8 - 4.9 around there. My guess is probably 4.8, 4.9 seems a little high. I change my mind. I'll see exactly soon, but before this my Weighted GPA on a previous report was 4.6, so after getting all A's in weighted it will be around 4.8 or so.

Also thanks I seem a lot less worried. Looking at the chance threads here, kinda freaked me (and probably other people) out. :p So my natural reaction is to be a little worried.

Do not, I repeat, do not sound like this on your applications! It will sound like you're making excuses, which you don't need to do with that gpa.

Lol you think I don't know that? I would never do that on my Apps.
