I will be getting a nice amount of credits from S.U.N.Y, and Iona and through my AP scores (if they are good!)

Also just wanted to add, i submitted 3 letters of recommendation, all of which should reallyu help, and my I (as well as one of my english teachers) felt my essay was well-written. I know these things are subject to the point of view of the reader but I just thought I might add that

You will be evaluated in the context of your school and your letters of recommendation and your essay should carry a lot of weight. Good Luck!

I had similar stats when I was admitted as an in-state student. I’m not sure whether out-of-state admissions are more difficult, but I’d say assuming your essay is on the same level as everything else, you should have a strong chance.

My D received her acceptance to Barrett a couple of weeks ago. Her stats are very similar to yours, she had great rec letters, and a great essay. She is also an IB Diploma candidate so the majority of her classes junior and senior year have been IB classes. She will be at the Downtown campus in the Walter Cronkite journalism school. We are out of state also - not sure if that made any difference or not.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I know i am not the best candidate but I still feel that I am qualified enough. Now I just have to wait

I had lower stats than you as an in-state student and was accepted, except for AP scores. Write a killer essay and you should be in good shape.

I thought my essay was pretty solid and definitely unique. Glad to hear that I have a good shot but the wait is killing me. How has your experience in the honors college been. How is the campus

Sorry for the late reply. I can honestly say my experience at ASU would not have been as beneficial nor useful without Barrett. It’s definitely worth the extra time and money to be grow into a better person and be a part of a community that truly works to improve the world. The campus is fairly typical, not too fancy yet not too boring. It’s pretty big and you’ll always find something going on for free to attend or watch every day/night.

Did you hear back?

thanks for your insight and yes i got in!! looking forward to next year!

Congrats! Barrett is pretty awesome I am about to start my second semester of my freshman year there! There are a lot of opportunities that are available only to Barrett students…which is very nice! If I may make a suggestion for a Human Event teacher (I am pretty sure you have heard about the human event class) take Dalton! He is pretty awesome! He tends to grade the essays more fairly in my opinion and he allows “reading responses” for people like me who hate to talk in class (lol I am super shy).

Also, Barrett has a pretty cool list serve called Honors-L…it informs honors students of club meetings, job opps., research opps., and stuff like that are available to Barrett students. In fact, I was interviewed for a research position to research schizophrenia in my second month of college because of it! Have fun and good luck :)

That all sounds great. Ill definitely keep an eye out for Dalton next year when i register for classes. Also the honors list serve thing sounds awesome. I really want to do research or earn an internship in college. Also another thing I want to do is study abroad. Can anyone comment on the study abroad programs available to barrett students?

I am just a freshman but all of their study abroad programs sound amazing!! The one that interests me the most is the one to Greece and Italy. The other ones are on their website but the Greece and Italy tour is the one I remember the most. Dalton also does a France trip where students stay for a month in Paris (or a little longer…I don’t remember exactly how long). He told us about it this past semester and it sounds really fun. He really wants to build independence and “travel smarts” in his students while at the same time give them the opportunity to earn credit. You don’t have to be in his human event class to go either!

I went on the Greece and Italy trip and it was an amazing experience (and an easy way to earn honors credits!). I met such great people and learned so much about other cultures and myself through the trip, and got to see such beautiful places! I definitely recommend any of them, a lot of my friends have done different ones and they’re all very fun with not too much work (yes, there’s still studying though :stuck_out_tongue: ). The only downside for me is it was a little pricey, but definitely worth it. Just something to be aware of.

I would definitely recommend research or internships. Being in Barrett gives you a leg up when doing either as it’s something employers/researchers really value (when someone volunteers to do extra work for a better education, it’s the type of person they’re looking for). I’ve had 4 internships in college (including one out of state this past summer), and they’ve helped me gain experience while making money (so, better than a part-time job in my opinion). Just keep your eye out for them, go to career fairs and join careerlink, talk to your professors, and you should find something! Also, you can use your research or internships for credit at Barrett if you need to. Talk to your advisor about it. Good luck!
