I just took the December SAT and 2 of the 3 colleges I'm applying to have their SAT Report Deadlines at January 1st. I just sent the reports today. Is it ok if they arrive a week late?

Probably not- you should have sent rush reports.

Well if they say "last testing date in December", I think it's okay -- at least for MIT. I thought that was the norm.

"SAT Report Deadlines" means it has to be received by the college by that date, at least I'm pretty sure.

Which colleges were you looking at?

Boston University and Boston College.

I was told that it usually takes colleges about a month to file all the thousands of applications, so I'd be fine.

Am I screwed now?

You're OK for Boston College (they allow you to take the December SAT.)

As for Boston University..... I'd be a little bit worried because it says until you have your SAT's sent in from the College Board, your application is considered incomplete. You might want to call the Office of Admissions if it's still available.

I have the same question for UC's. Anyone?

Which is the norm? To have all tests taken by a certain date, and having them sent after the app deadline is okay, or to have all tests arrive by January 1st?

thanks, bump

From what I've heard, as long as the school says they take the December SAT as the last one (or even JAnuary for that matter) then, test dates can be received after January 1. Of course I wouldnt send it off December 31st though, get it out ASAP

I can't seem to tell from UPenn's website (or Bates'), if it's okay that score reports arrive later than the app deadline -- can anyone advise me?

email them?

I have. (I might not get a reply until 2nd Jan!) I just want I quick reply I guess, because I am already using waivers for everything, and would be loathe to spend unnecessary money on rush reporting if I don't have to.

Do NOT send rush reports. Most colleges would rather your scores be slightly late than receiving rush reports. The reason is that the rush reports come in a different format that don't fit nicely into their databases. As long as you have your scores, which you should have in time for the Jan. 1st deadline, let the colleges know when you send your app (or by email). They'll "pencil in" your self-reported scores and then finalize them when the collegeboard's official score report comes in.

If the school accepts the Dec test, you're fine. Unless they specifically mention you should rush-report it.

I emailled those that have a Jan 1st deadline and they said it was fine, as long as on my app I'd written that I'd taken the SAT in December.
