ok im confused...

i've decided that i want to transfer schools for spring 2007. i'm not sure exactly where yet, but i know that i will be doing so.

but im really confused because most schools have a dec. 1, 2006 deadline for spring applications (some are even in october!). i want to have the fall semester to bring up my gpa so my transfer application will be stronger, but finals in my current school take place around the 15th-18th of december, after most spring deadlines have occured. so how do i get prospective schools to see all of my grades, when my transcript will be "complete" after their deadlines?

i'm just not sure how this works. hopefully my situation makes sense and someone can answer this for me...

If you apply for transfer admission for Spring 2007, you may not have the opportunity to apply your Fall 2006 grades in support of your application; if this information is not posted on the admissions website of the colleges to which you are applying, you can call the office and ask them directly. However, considering how tight a schedule they will be on (I would imagine that those with a Dec 1, 2006 deadline would only have one month to make a decision), I highly doubt that you will be able to do so.

Nevertheless, you should send out your transcript again after Fall 2006 grades are posted (your current college probably allows you to request the transcript and "hold for grades"), even if the admissions office of the college to which you want to transfer tells you that your new grades cannot be considered. The updated transcript reflects interest in the college and may also help the admissions office come to a decision if it is still deliberating.

Good luck!

Some colleges also require that you send a midterm grade report when applying for spring admission, so that could also help you out.

yeah, send a midterm

i was wondering the same thing. but i dont think my school does midterm reports, so ahhhh that sucks. i need next semester's grades to help me out for transfer admissions

if the school you are applying to requires the midterm reports they will usually send a form that your profs can fill out
