ok, I'm in, but I want honors

I got into michigan today, but with no mention of the honors program which i am very interested in.
Stats
SAT 1480
Rank 8/148

how do I initate the process?, How do I let them know that i am interested?

what day did you submit your application?

Michigan will get back to you on the Honors program. You have a very good chance of getting into it. You can also contact the university directly to get things moving. But since you have over a 1400 on your SAT, you will be automatically considered.

were you in state or out?

You'll definitely be invited in; there's usually a lag time.

Yah they take forever to inform you after the request. I didn't find out until april.

i am out of state (from PA) and a legacy (both parents).

I submitted the app early october like the 10th I think

i was informed about 2 weeks after my first acceptance letter, very happy! then again, i'm in-state so i know i have an easier time with the UM application

gameguy, they do inform you 2 weeks after your acceptance but it does not hurt to tell them you are interested in it. UMich is interested in knowing if you are interested in the honors program. Call them and tell them you would like your application reviewed for honors. We did that last year. I don't know if it helped or not and my son did hear from them 2 weeks later. And btw, my son was out of state for UMich.

My daughter had the same experience as you last year. She got accepted to Michigan, at the high end of their stats but with no immediate invitation to the Honors Program. She e-mailed the University to let them know she was interested. As of about January, she still had not gotten an answer one way or the other. She contacted UMich again. At that point, they asked her to send in some additional materials -- latest grades, new honors, as well as a short essay explaining why she'd be a good candidate for the program. A few weeks later, she was accepted. Unless a student has gotten an invitation to the Honors Program with the initial acceptance package, my strong advice is NOT to wait for Michigan to contact you. Contact them.
