ECs include working at a CPAs office doing accounting and forensic accounting. I have become a valuable asset to his business (Im making him alot of money) and he lends me out to high profile lawyers to do work. I have been doing this for about 6 months and will continue until i leave for college.
I will very likely start working directly for Marc Ostrofsky (Networking/word got around about my adeptness, and he wanted to hire someone to help him managing websites and the like. Look him up on Wikipedia if you dont know who he is. He's partners with Ross Perot) Im meeting with him next week. If i start working for him he will likely write me a letter of recommendation for college!! Im so excited about that!
Also I have been playing guitar for 10 years and have played many concerts and taught at a few summer camps
Been on numerous mission trips (habitat for humanity and hurricane Ike relief) and have done tons of community service with the boy scouts
Going to Texas A&M and UT Austin summer programs this summer
Boy Scout (Life Scout)
Worked in a warehouse last summer full time
My resume is stacked with many law firms, CPA firms, and many other businesses as an accountant.

Schools are (in order of how much i wanna go there)

Cornell (applying ED)
Pomona (applying ED II if i dont get into Cornell)
Northwestern
Claremont Mckenna
Bowdoin
USC
Vanderbilt
Rice (double legacy, and grandfather used to be a proffessor there until a few years ago)
Colgate
Oxford College of Emory University (safety)

Everything looks awesome except for the 3.35 UW, which will probably make it difficult for you to get into some of the schools on your list. Is the 15% rank based on your weighted or unweighted CPA, because that makes a big difference.

I think the 3.35 UW and 15% is gonna hurt, but the SAT’s are fantastic, so that might even it out a little more. Cornell and Pomona might be difficult because of the GPA/rank, but I think Bowdoin and USC are very attainable. Really, really cool EC’s are gonna help. You’re into Rice already, guarantee it. Best of luck!

Cornell (applying ED): low reach; good ECs
Pomona (applying ED II if i dont get into Cornell): mid reach
Northwestern: low reach
Claremont Mckenna: low reach
Bowdoin: low reach
USC: high match
Vanderbilt: high match
Rice: high match
Colgate: high match
Oxford College of Emory University (safety): high match

Ok ive chanced you all back. So im applying to all 10 of these colleges (maybe switch colgate with carleton), how many would you say ill probably be accepted to excluding Rice and Oxford?

Not true. Most of these schools will recalculate your GPA using their own methodology.

Class rank is the most important factor. Unless you go to a highly competitive school (average SAT about 2100, sends 25% plus to ivies), not being in the top 10% makes admission highly unlikely at many of your schools without a hook.

I would think about strategy. If Rice is unlikely most schools, you will lose much of the legacy boost by not applying there ED. Do they have ED 2? If you don’t get into Cornell ED (and it’s a reach), Pomona is probably not going to happen. I would reconsider telling Rice you love them ED, it’s clearly your best shot at a top college.

Pomona: low reach (show lots of interest, visit)
Cornell: low reach
Northwestern: low reach
Rice: high match (I agree with hmom5, your best shot at a top school)
Claremont Mckenna: high match
USC: high match
Bowdoin: high match
Vanderbilt: high match
Oxford College of Emory University: low match
Colgate: ?

Before you read these, realize that I’m a pessimist.

Cornell (applying ED) - reject
Pomona (applying ED II if i dont get into Cornell) - reject
Northwestern - reject, but you definitely have a chance
Claremont Mckenna - accept, but rejection isn’t unlikely
Bowdoin - reject
USC - accept
Vanderbilt - accept
Colgate - accept

Pomona: Low reach
Cornell: Match
Northwestern: Low reach/match
Rice: Match
Claremont Mckenna: Low reach
USC: Match
Bowdoin: Match
Vanderbilt: Match
Oxford College of Emory University: Match
Colgate: Low reach.

Ok youve all been chanced back. It seems weird that im getting such mixed responses. I think i shouldve put rice lower on my list. I may put northwestern as my ED II since i guess i dont have much of a shot at Pomona

Pomona: Low reach
Cornell: Low reach
Northwestern: Low reach
Rice: Match
Claremont Mckenna: Low reach
USC: Match
Bowdoin: Match
Vanderbilt: Match
Oxford College of Emory University: Match
Colgate: Match

Incredible stats except GPA. Your SAT score is amazing. Maybe you could apply for the soccer team sending a document that says that you are a great player blah blah. I heard that this is a good way to increase your chances of getting into a good university. I wish you Cornell, though

Cornell (applying ED): low reach
Pomona (applying ED II if i dont get into Cornell): Not sure
Northwestern: low reach
Claremont Mckenna: Not sure
Bowdoin: Not sure
USC: match
Vanderbilt: match
Rice: match
Colgate: match
