Ok, this is going to go in all of the ivy league colleges' discussion boards.

In your opinion, which do you think (as objectively as possible) is the best Ivy? Which is the worst? And why?

This will be interesting.

Yes, very interesting since we've never had this topic before. Also, great choice of posting this question on all the Ivy League boards as a way to get objective opinions.

norcalguy

I dont think its up to us to decide which is the best, because as they say, "to each his own." They're all good schools in their individual little ways. I applied to four of them and so I cant really say which one is the best. I like them all for different reasons.

the rolling of the eyes was for the sarcasm that i enjoyed by norcal guy

:D

Brilliantly stated, norcalguy. I can't wait for this enthralling, unique thread to influence where I want to go to college (based on prestige, of course). Waittttt....

Why do people ask questions like this? I can't stand these people.

monkeyman...

the ivies are not comperable "in general." The school's have individual strengths and weaknesses. This is why USNWR rankings are argued to be inexact. Cornell for example, is often viewed as an overall less selective school among the ivies, yet is one of the strongest schools in the country, not just the ivy league, for engineering.

And comparing tony suburban princeton, NJ with hyper-urban philadelphia, PA is...ummm yea they're different! one is not necessarily better than the other.

If you look at your area of study, ideal school size, atmosphere, EC interests, then you'd be able to pick an ivy or 2 even 5 more easily. There is an ivy match for every top student--that in itself means that they are radically different, and very individual, institutions.

If you're looking for overall objective evaluations, USNWR gives you a good idea of both your range of schools for your stats and what range of schools the ones you are looking at are in, but saying X U. is better than Y U. by 5 ranking spots is frivolous. Also, you may 1. value different things than USNWR does, and 2. be looking in a specific field like, for example, music. Eastman @ Rochester and Oberlin Conservatory are phenomenal music departments at universities that are only "good" overall. (not to belittle roch or oberlin, they're both great schools, esp roch)

You got it all wrong Sparticus.

He only wants to know which one "rocks" the most.

Haha...I love it :)

lol..its not that simple monkeyman

btw, I think I speak for everyone on the CORNELL board when I say CORNELL "rocks" the most :p

oh yeah, duh, obviously cornell rocks the most. why did he have to say it so confusingly: "the best." he should have just asked which rocks the most...

CORNELL

Hahaha ok thats great, Cornell is the best woohoo. So which is the worst? There are 8 Ivies. Just name one, and why. This should be simple, for all you brilliant Cornellians

brown, cuz i cant think of anyone important who came from there. then again, i cant think of anyone important who came from dartmouth or cornell either (off the top of my head).

oh wait, jay fiedler came from dartmouth, actually nm hes not important.

Which one are you going to??

Who, me? Stanford. Its unfortunate that Stanford should not have its own forum.

what a horrible thread
