OK, life is officially weird

mentorhockey22, same thing happened to me. got into duke but waitlisted at vandy

i honestly have nothing good to say about vandy…

Admissions is more than just who is the best student though - each school is looking for a certain thing and will see different strengths and weaknesses in each person. I think things like this where people are accepted at top schools but then not accepted at lesser schools happen all the time.

yes, this process is SO unpredictable.

Lol I thought I “understood” college admissions but my experience has proved to me that there really is no way to understand the madness from outside. :)

My decisions:

Accepted: Duke, Vanderbilt, UVA (Likely Letter)
Waitlisted: Harvard (yay, but I kinda wanted to say that I got into H), UPenn (Wharton), Cornell (***, yield protection)
Rejected: Yale, Stanford (SCEA)

I mean WL @ Harvard and Wharton? when Yale and Stanford are slightly easier to get into, seems random. Accepted at Duke but WL at Cornell?
I kind of hoped to get into one of Wharton/Yale/Harvard, but ever since my Duke decision I’ve been 100% confident that it is where I want to go.

Pure craziness (and honestly, mine really aren’t that strange compared to many others’)

Good luck to anyone applying in '11! In the end, it is all worth it. Though you really can’t see the whole picture until the dust finally settles (5 months lafter applying… lol).
