Ok so this whole time I really thought you had to finish all pre-reqs to transfer

Is that not the case? I know it's not a requirement but I figured since things get so competitive that if you don't finish all of them then you are less likely to get in (similar to how the minimum GPA you need is a 3.0 to apply but doesn't mean you'll get in).

People at my school were asking me if I applied yet and I said I didn't even bother because I still need a lot of bio classes (as I am a bio major). This girl told me that you don't even need to finish the bio, she said her AP Bio credit covered 1 semester of Bio and that she applied for Fall 10'. She has also taken O-Chem but not Physics as far as I know.

I'm kinda bummed now bc I was planning to stay for another year to fniish up Bio, Calc, and electives. Too late to apply now though right?

What if I had applied with out Calc, Bio and some electives? Do you think I would have been rejected anyway? I wouldn't have been able to apply with TAG I guess since the electives wouldn't have been finished (the schools I want to apply to are UCSB and UCSD).

It is still possible to apply, but I don’t see why you’d be bummed out since you’re saving a ton of money
Edit: and also near garenteing your admission…

You can still do TAG for UCSD if you meet the requirements. There is still time to apply you have 10 days starting from today.GOOOOOO!!!

Apply it doesn’t hurt whats $120 applying to UCSD and UCSB and having a chance of getting in.

I don’t think the application fees are a worry. I was talking about tuition, which is a $9000 issue.

I don’t think it’s too late. You have until Nov. 30. Doesn’t hurt to apply right? Also, in regards to the tuition, did you guys know if your parents make under 60k your tuition is fully paid for. Pretty sweet!

But in previous post from Duck and within UCSD the Bio program it’s going to become impacted starting fall 2011.

It’s 70k a year now =)

Even sweeter!

I don’t think I’m eligible for TAG. My IGETC isn’t finished yet and also I haven’t taken Calc yet. I don’t see myself as having a good chance.

Stop being so negative. Doesn’t hurt to apply. Better than staying at CC for another year. I already told you this before.

Do engineering majors have to finish igetc as well?

@Vega
No. They only need the UC GE.

I’m just trying to be realistic. If I applied for Fall 10’ I would be missing all of Calculus, English 1B, elective classes like Cinema, Philosophy, etc. some of my bio requirement as well. Would I be rejected from UCSB or UCSD? I have above a 3.0 but I can’t sign TAG since IGETC isn’t finished.

And I don’t think I have enough time left to do the essays anyway :(

Since your scared of the impacted thing with bio. I would still apply. I would try to finish 2nd English class too. 9 days is plenty to write essays but most likely they wont even read it. So just apply.

Go ahead and apply. Wouldn’t hurt.
Although, Kid, if I were you I’d stay to finish my courses. It’ll make graduating after you’ve transferred much less difficult. Getting to UC is one thing but staying here is another. Explore your CC options and work hard on those science courses to get some academic maturity. Trust me, it’s not that bad. I was there in CC for three years but those years have helped me tremendously.

Just a quick question though, if I apply now what GPA will they see? I still have to take O-Chem II, Physics II, and Bio in Spring so that’s a huge part of my GPA. Won’t I only be able to report my freshman year grades since Fall semester ends after applications are due?

They won’t see your grades until the fall classes are complete. Basically, you’ll submit your grades to them after every semester (fall, spring, and if you decide to do summer).

You can apply by Nov. 30th, but try to do it early as the system always seems to go down the last day or so. I think I heard that they get 40% of their applications on the last couple of days.
