Ok, so you're a top a school...

I sent an email to Parsons asking if they've received my application pack, as I sent it about 20 days ago and I received no answer. They told me that the portfolio was missing, but I sent it along with all the other documents. I know for sure that they received the pack as I sent it with UPS. I know Parsons is a top school in the art and design field, but they ought to be more careful and more kind...Anybody else has experienced a bad treat from a uni or college? I'm feeling very depressed...

This goes back to the admission cycle for academic year '02, but son applied to Oberlin College and Conservatory, and sent the requsite audition tape.

We received acknowledgement that all materials had been received, and a seperate letter indicating his audition tape had also been received.

He was accepted to his top choice, but two weeks into April had not heard anything from Oberlin.

They had internally lost or misrouted the tape, and never followed up with a request to resend. We did not reconfirm, as we had (and had kept) the letter acknowledging their receipt.

I insisted they refund the application fees for both college and conservatory, but it took three weeks to get an approval, culminating with the admissions director. Upon my faxing him their letter, he acknowledged their error.

This is not meant as a derogatory comment about Oberlin. Mistakes happen, things get lost. Plus this was prior to the days of being generally able to access admission component status online.

When our d went through the process two years later we made sure to confirm every acknowledged admissions requirement vial email.
