OK to quit?

I'm in 11th grade now and I've been in band playing clarinet/tenor saxophone since 6th grade. I don't enjoy band as much as I did in middle school. I'm not very good at clarinet so I get B-s Cs on my playing test (92-100 on everything else). Freshman year I got a C, sophomore year I got an A- and first semester of junior year I got a B+/A-. Another issue I have is my teacher and I don't have a good relationship so I get in trouble with her a lot for everything and have an 82 for participation; also, she's entered grades incorrectly multiple times and won't make concessions for me that she'll make for other people (plus a lot of the people I like in the class are graduating).

I want to drop the class next year and take Honors Constitutional Issues or Spanish I or AP Psych, but everyone says it's bad to have 3 years of a class then suddenly drop it. Is this true or in my situation would it be fine to drop band?

Well unless you are nationally ranked in band, it looks like a fluff class that everyone takes and most people get As in. So if you can get out of it and take another academic class, then by all means do so.

Yeah our teacher takes her job a little to seriously and I fear that most people looking at my transcript wouldn’t realize that. Thank you for the advice!
