I have found out that I have been deferred from Gettysburg College most likely because of my low gpa and class rank but an otherwise exceptional record.

What should be my next move?

I have found out that I have been deferred from Gettysburg College most likely because of my low gpa and class rank but an otherwise exceptional record.

What should be my next move?

Get your fastball back and sign with the Yankees.

drop out of school and join the navy

Ignore these people. What other schools have you applied to ? state of resident, sat and gpas pls.

I have a 2.3 left over from a rather poor preformence,
throughout Freshman year but I’ve preformed decent in my studies since and it shows a strong upward trend, in addition I will have three AP classes under my belt. In terms of EC’S I will have to put on my application the Cambridge College Programme, in which I did exceedingly well as I made all A’s in my classes as well as getting the de facto recommendations of two Cambridge Professors who are fairly high profile in the sense of them being accomplished academics as well as to having wrote some books as well, also in terms of EC I will hopefully have debate to put on there in addition to Cambridge. Also I have written and have had published some History articles on community based history websites. Not to mention I also finished an internship with one of the Presidential Campaigns in addition to doing around 24 hours of volunteer work with one of the related political parties organization.

I have an ACT of 23(however Gettysburg and many of the other schools I’m applied to have SAT/ACT optional choices.

In addition my SAT subject test scores/AP exam scores and results were very good or close to perfect in all cases.

So quite a decent record when you look at things. In addition my low gpa also has alot to do with the fact that I have a severe learning disabilty in math which corrlates with low gpa when you look at things.

In terms of the other schools I’ve applied to in addition to Gettysburg College.

Muehlenberg College
Washington & Jefferson College
Allegany college
Lycoming College
Ohio Wesylain University
Radford University
George Mason University
Susquehanna University(possibly thinking about applying)
Marlbouro College(possiblely thinking about applying)

Btw I am currently a resident of the State of Virginia

Any more opinions on this matter?

I’m sorry but you should learn to spell the names of the school to which you are applying.

At this point, it’s too late to do anything except write phenomenal essays. Also, you should explain your learning disability/your counselor should have mentioned your ld as an impediment to your studies. Update your profile with any new achievements you have made during the admission process.

Plastic, oh please, eveyone has typos on this

Kevin, I think the problem is that schools that go with SAT/ACT optional tend to have higher GPAs. You are applying to some pretty good schools. I can see you have potential, and I know you dont want to hear this, but you may have to go to a CC for 2 years, and then transfer.

I wouldn’t think so as my low gpa is as you can see not something in my control. In addition the admissions consulars at any of these schools haven’t raised objections or concerns over my low gpa providing that I provide documentation and this can be seen in the example of Gettysburg, a highly selective college and they didn’t reject me outright.

Well then you will have to wait and see. I am not familiar with all the schools you listed. Which one(s) are your safety.

I mean Gettysburg has an acceptence rate of around only 28-30% and it is listed according to petersons.com as most difficult to get into.

I would say that I have no safety as I have had schools were I should have had minimal difficulty getting into like (Bridgewater College) saying no to me while others (like Gettysburg) have kept an open mind towards me and vice versa, so thisreally leaves me without a suitable safe school.

Bishop to E5

I’m not familar with chess but what I that supposed to mean?

I think you need to look for some safeties that really are safeties. I don’t see any on your list. There are some colleges still are accepting applications.

I think you reading way too much into a deferral. Many people get deferred and do not get accepted. What is your backup?

I’d say of the list Radford, Lycoming and Marlbouro I most likely could get into.

Not bad places once you get down to it
