^ well for an appeal, you can't just present your old information, ie. SAT scores, GPA, again that they have already extensively reviewed, and say they should take you the second time around with the same info. neither are you supposed to present new info. that is from 12th grade and on. should be something that they legitimately missed since the beginning. just wanted to clarify that. but don't worry guys, just because Davis didn't take you doesn't mean you won't get other schools including SD and LA, etc..:]

yes! i got rejected. i laughed when i saw it b/c i got into usc and into northeastern with a $14,000 scholarship yearly. got into irvine too. very funny stuff

2150 sat, 4.1 UC gpa, CRAZY extracurriculars and excellent essays.
strange stuff, college.

SarahSponda902 thats weird you didn't get accepted, because I got in with a 3.74 1800 sat.. I guess they must have caught a whiff of arrogance in your essays or something.

maybe if you weren't such a pussy and applied under a harder major you'd understand^

Put away those claws and let's play nice, kiddies :)

@gotouc: That's really harsh, especially after you worked hard to get your stats! I was planning on raising my stats to around on par as yours, because the UC admissions this year are just SO insane, but now..eeeh.

Oop-

Screenshot of your acceptance or it didn't happen.

LOL rawr Cutieflutie.. Whats wrong with my major?

@oop:Whats wrong with my major?

Rejected at Davis; Accepted with Regents at Santa Barbara.

I will admit, this IS bizarre. But, the only thing that I can think of is that you got caught up in the point system, i.e., not enough leadership positions in ECs? Sure, I know football takes up a LOT of time, but you get just as many "points" for being a ember of the team as you do for being a member of CSF. But, you would bet bonus points for being a team captain. Just speculatin'.

Santa Barbara bases only half their decision on academic stats. The other half is a rating by the application reader of the interest they have in a particular person from several standpoints, including talents, achievements, and other things that may make them a good member of the class. This can have a huge effect if they really like something about a candidate.

Wow. Honestly, I'm started to become curious as to why I got accepted. I mean, I'm an out-of-state resident and I'm Asian (hahah, I include this because there's a lot of Asians at UC schools). I have a mediocre SAT score, as well as SAT subject tests scores. Along with declaring a major, I also believe that it's a well holistic process. I am well-rounded in the sense that I was able to fill all of my extracurricular activities and volunteer projects in the application. That could be it.

historymom, does your daughter have a lot of extracurricular activities?

^^^ yep, She's a two sport varsity athlete, involved in Interact, Volunteers rehoming dogs from the shelter, operates the spotlight for hs and community theatre, a soccer coach for little kids, has worked on homecoming for 4 years and was on prom committee last year. I don't get it at all but ohhh wellll.

luckely91 I am happy for you. Believe me, my D was over it...a lot faster than I was ;) It's just the way thing worked out but she has a lot of other wonderful options so all is well.

^^Where is she planning to attend?

cal poly is a lot easier to get into than UC Davis..

Depends on what college your going for. For engineering I would say cal poly is alot more competitive hands down. I'm a civil engineer major, and for transfers this year they only had 19 seats available and 150 applied. If i did it right that was a 12% acceptance rate. I dont know what it is with davis but I know there engineering as a whole davis had a 50% or so acceptance rate. I could be wrong though, but it depends on what your major is on making which school easier to get into.

I copied this from another forum..

Acceptance Averages:

Cal Poly College's:

Science & Math= 35%
Liberal Arts= 25%
Engineering= 42%
Business= 27%
Architecture= 25%
Agriculture= 45%

Cal Poly -34%
UC Davis -53%

Cal Poly actually is harder by about 20%
According to Collegeboard.com

well at least slo has a waitlist, as well as ED

I am utterly shocked.
I think my school and davis do not get along.
I got accepted with a 4.2 GPA and a 1440 SAT

but my asian friends with a 4.6 GPA and a 1800 SAT rank 2-5. did not get in.
I'm shocked and they are shocked as well.
I have 2 other asian friends with around my stats and they didn't get in either.
at my school, only 1 asian girl got in outa the 10 that applied I believe.

a 1440/1600 equivalent or out of 2400?
