Okay CommonApp1975 Please Answer Our Questions!!

CommonApp1975:

I know you are the official representative for "The Common Application" here on cc so could you please answer these questions:

Where is print preview for each page?

On the old common app at the top of each page you could click print preview to see what you typed looked like on the actual application. This function was extremely helpful in drafting your common app both in style and substance. I have go to your "help center' and what I see suggested in your "help center" doesn't appear on my pages.

Can you print off a complete copy of the common app before you submit it?

This is helpful for proofing. You could do that with the old common app.

Is every supplement for every member college available? Are we safe to assume that the supplements are in their final form and a college will not add an essay question in the future (meaning this year) to their supplement?

I ask this because I knew certain schools like Lehigh asked last year questions in its supplement. On the the summary page it says "no essay required" Did some of the college change from previous years and now no longer required an essay?

How can you print off supplements?

I know this is new and I am trying really hard to be patient. My students are asking for my help and we are trying to work through it together. An answer to my questions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Forgot I had one more question.

Can you use the common app with Chrome? If so what do you need to do? Every time I use that browser I get a “site is under maintenence” but if I switch to internet explorer I can pull it up. Can you not use Chrome on the common app?

It works on Chrome; you just have to clear your cache.

Flying Kitty: How do you do that?

<a href=“Clear browsing data - Computer - Google Chrome Help”>Clear browsing data - Computer - Google Chrome Help;

Thanks.For Your Help.

Can you print off a complete copy of the common app before you submit it?

This is helpful for proofing. You could do that with the old common app.

Please answer this query. Thank you

I can’t even log into my account that I made this morning, what’s wrong with the app?

Bump…

Lots of great questions here, but we really need folks to direct them to our support team. Just go to commonapp.org and click Help Center.

If the help center replies to any of you, or if anyone figures out answers on their own, please share the wealth and post here.

Okay so I sent my questions to the “help center” and here is the response I got.

Thank you for your message.
The print preview for each application is available on the submission page. An applicant will not be able to print preview until the entire application is completed. An applicant can print the print preview like last year.
The supplements are not available for every institution yet. In the coming weeks, schools will be working to put the online versions of their member questions and writing supplements online via the Common App. As for the supplements that are online now, they are in their final form and will not change. The supplements will be displayed on the print preview of the application and an applicant can print it out from there.
Thank you for your suggestions and I will forward those to the appropriate department.

Is there a way that you can print a hard copy to use to fill in all of the information prior to entering it in on-line?

On the current courses page, how do we put in dual enrollment college classes?

ITA itsv. Also, we can’t find any way to rearrange the activities once they are entered. Last year there was a tab to move any particular activity up or down, so they could be reorganized. Unless we missed how to do this?

“The print preview for each application is available on the submission page. An applicant will not be able to print preview until the entire application is completed. An applicant can print the print preview like last year.”

Upon completion of the app, how do you get to the submission page so you can simply print a draft?!?

Ugh! CA4 seems like a train wreck. Was it beta tested? Low income kids without decent guidance or support (or the correct browser) will be screwed - but I guess that’s the way it’s always been.

Sorry for the vent.

How many months did they have to design this clunker? Hopefully they get it working before the applications are due in five months.

Students from my country invited teachers to recommend them. But the online form is unavailable due to site maintenance. At least they are thanking the teachers for their patience. lol. I’m hoping that they will be able to fix this soon.

Yeah, this is true. No print preview. No official counselor in my school. :frowning: So, I’ll have to get all the things completed by me. I hope someone was here to help me to do things correctly. God knows what is in store for me. If there were paper based applications, I would print one application and then asked the teachers to check if I’ve done things correctly. But now, I’m doomed. :(

common application organization should’ve tested it with students before launching. In fact poor students.

The Help section says:

“Print preview and watermark
You can only print preview your application when all questions have been answered and you are ready to submit (click “Submission - Common App”.on left of page).”

So I’ve completed the App. I have all the green check marks but I’m not seeing “Submission - Common App” on left of page

Has anyone been able to Print Preview an application?

Thanks

it’s under my colleges tab
