how big of a deal is it to be a National Merit Commended Student and National Achievement Semifinalist? (considering that I'm applying to "top schools")</p>
<p>Commended is nice but doesn’t really get you anything. NAS does have some merit options at different schools.</p>
<p>Not sure it makes any difference – just another honor to put on your application.</p>

Yes @ Erin’s Dad, I know that Fordham, for example, gives full-tuition to National Achievement Semifinalists with an A average - but I’m not really headed there.
Well, we’ll see, thanks for answering! Having to wait to see if I’m a finalist is a pain… (
Any other opinions? Does anyone know of any other NY schools that have NAS scholarships?</p>
