I live in an area of the country where the ACT is the test of choice. I took the SAT as well, but didn't submit it simply because I won't have a third SAT II until after the December test. I personally don't think it matters at all, except that some SAT IIs are used for class placement after acceptance. But at this point I just want to get to that acceptance point...i'm not worrying about what comes after :)

question. I took both (as in SATs + 3 SAT IIs and the ACTs) and put both on the common app. However, im only planning on sending my SATs/SATIIs and not my Acts but it sent the unofficial scores. Should i sent the act scores or just not bother?

My goal wasn't to make anyone panic; I was just pointing out the information I saw on the following page:
http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=4123&profileId=6

Whether or not it actually does make a difference, I submitted ACT, SAT, and SAT subject test scores just in case.

Ok so I am planning on not taking the SAT I at all, and just submitting the ACT and two SAT subject tests. will this still "hurt" me since they can see that I never even tried the SAT I?

Based on what everyone else has said, no. I think having two SAT IIs will be beneficial, though.

I think you have a good chance. Your numbers are very solid, you've utilized what your school has offered, and your ECs are very focused and strong!

i mean, a lot depends on the essays and recs

TASP + National history awards
Good scores
Good class rank

I don't see why you wouldn't be accepted. Good luck! =)

vegangirl - how did your oct round of the ACTs go?

what's your novel about? that's pretty sweet.

lollipop- I'm one of the unlucky few whose scores aren't available yet. It's driving me crazy. lol.

jegan3- it's about a woman whose mother has just died. She takes a trip to her mother's home (her mother left her family when she was really small) to get her ashes and ends up uncovering a lot about her family's history and her mother's own life. I think plot summaries always sound kind of silly, but there it is.

I like the sound of it, vegangirl...sounds very Amy Tan-esque! (that's a good thing, I love Amy Tan)

ahh! sounds like we writers love yale. I'm in advanced creative writing right now and I'm working on a six-degrees-of-separation type novel, in which a lot of random people encounter each other and make connections etc. Your arts magnet school totally owns my public one, BTW.

right on, lunarchik! Creative writers are the coolest people, in my humble opinion:) and my school rocks the arts thing. academics...not so much. your school probably kills mine in that department. lol.

Yeah, I can officially confirm that creative writers are the coolest...sorry everyone else. Has anyone looked into the writing seminars that recently started being offered at Yale, or the journalism initiative? I don't know if those are self-selecting, but they're sweet nonetheless. It would be amazing to be a part of either.

Btw, I just finished a really good book, 'In Praise of the Stepmother' by Mario Vargas Llosa, and I would definitely recommend it.

when I had my current student interview, the interviewer said she'd been in this journalistic writing class with like 15 or fewer students, and that 6 of them (SIX!) won Atlantic Monthly prizes for pieces they wrote during the course. Yale must be doing something right!!! I would die to be a part of that...
oh, and vegangirl, more props--i'm a vegetarian, haha. although i could never be a vegan. that takes dedication. :)

Me, too. I could be a vegetarian pretty easily, but vegan--no way could I give up my eggs or dairy. Even vegetarian would be difficult after a while--I need my seafood!

OT

I'm a vegetarian too! but i'd love to be vegan.... my mom doesn't allow me to do so... if I attended yale, i'm going to be vegan.. that's a promess :p

hehe, patoka, did you put that on your application? ;)

Have you guys heard how Yale is switching their dining halls to organic/locally raised food? god, i love wealthy institutions.
