Okay, I'm stuck...please give me opinions!

I am a junior in Summit High School in New Jersey. I really like Cornell and Yale, and I think I have a much better chance of getting into Cornell early decision than Yale early action. Please give your opinion, thanks!

I think you have a good chance of getting into Cornell RD, so no need to do ED. If you do decide Cornell ED, you’re basically ‘stuck’ w/ Cornell. If I were you, try Yale EA and then if that doesn’t work you (you’ll probably get deffered) you can always do Cornell RD. It just gives you more choices.

BUT! you need more leadership/more-outstanding ECs.

Ok thanks for that advice! I’ll try to get more leadership roles.

Any other opinions?

dude, i can almost say your saftey is cornell. you have a great shot there!

Umm… Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that legacy only applies at Cornell for ED, so Cornell ED might be a better option. There are people with your stats who have been rejected by both Yale and Cornell, so I would go with Cornell ED, the safe choice.

Go for Yale, high stats hispanic gives you a great chance and Cornell will most probably take you without legacy.

I would say my biggest concern with Yale EA is that cornell will know that they are not my first choice and will not want to accept me RD for yield purposes. Also plenty of students from my school will be also applying ED to Cornell. Any thoughts? I’m so torn. Thanks!

What is your intended major? This could help with the decision process…

I’m going to major in psychology but also fulfill the premed requirements so I can go into neuroscience.

Cornell has excellent med school acceptance rates, so it might be a better choice (not that Yale does not, but Cornell is known for its pre-med education)

Thats definitely a good take on it. I’ll have to factor that in, do you know how Yale’s premed program is?

It’s definitely prestigious, but from what I understand Cornell is well known as one of the colleges that sends it’s grads to top medical schools. I would choose Cornell over Yale for premed any day, but that is just me.

It sounds like I should probobly stick with cornell then, I have much better chances, what youve said has been enlightening. I’d appreciate any last ideas you have, and thanks for everything! Goodluck with everything you do.

Yeah I would stick with Cornell but still apply for Yale RD.
Good luck with your apps!
