How likely would it be for a black guy to get a bid to an IFC fraternity here? I know few people in the system but we have never really talked about this. I really would like to join a fraternity in college for my own reasons, which I will not disclose, but it seems the college I’ve chosen is hell bent on having that not happen.

I don’t know what any particular person’s chances are. There are frats that are multi-racial, and there are fraternity houses that are “Black Houses” and “White Houses.”

It sounds like you’re not interested in joining on of the Black Houses, is that correct? If so, then perhaps look into some of the fraternities that are more multi-racial.

Perhaps this recent thread will help.

That thread helps a little. If the two parents with son in fraternities could just let me know the names of the organizations that would be good. I think I can get in contact with them on my own.

Hi, don’t know what your major is but a nice frat is Theta Tau (its the engineering + other related majors). It’s diverse and co-ed.

Hmm. Interesting how the word “honest” automatically means the thread is about race.

I’m with Southlander on this one. “Honest” and “for reasons I won’t disclose” seem like mutually exclusive terms here. Just meet people and draw your own conclusions on where you believe you would feel most comfortable. You will know when you have a good fit for you, just don’t judge those where you wouldn’t.

Rando, I’m not singling you out. That “honest” use seems to carry over to any forum.
