okay. where do i go from here?

Right now i'm attending a liberal arts college with math major and will be starting my junior year during the fall. I am planning for a transfer as i want to get an engineering degree( electronics/computers).

So far i have managed around 3.6(had around 1300 in SAT 2 yrs ago) after some slacking and could do better next year. After a super freshman year i set myself up with some challenge beyond the math in the class. As an international student, now I have been working as an assistant manager at a coffeehosue on college and will be starting an RA position next year, too. I have been invovled in some small clubs as well.

I want to transfer after junior year as the 3-2 program from this college entirely sucks. What are the universities i could be shooting for? What are safety schools under this criteria? Anybody in similar position ? could u possibly guide me through here? Where should i start from?

Thanks for yr time.

what LAC are you at right now...that'll help us determine your chances.

LAC? ..cc jargons...?.
this is bad. what's LAC? Lost And Confused? i am.
thanks.

liberal arts college = LAC

Basically, where are you currently going to school?

huh. that was easy. It's St. Vincent College. 3rd tier liberal arts benedictine college in southwest PA. as low key as u can get other than a great sense of community here!

let's just say, i'm here because of surprisingly strong mathematics program and awesome scholarship offer.

Who is their 3-2 arrangement with, jinx?

most universities don't take senior level transfers. you should take into consideration.

i could do a 3-2 transfer though, right? like in a 3-2 engineering program when you can transfer to a an engineering university for 2 yrs after 3 yrs in a liberal arts college? does that make any sense or did i just make that up?

no clue my friend, not an engineering major.

I doubt any universities will take you if you are already in junior standing (in terms of units).

yeah i didn't realize that in your originial post...it will be particularly difficult.

your school has to offer a 3-2 program with another school, do they?

yes. they do have some with penn state and u pitt. but they have no financial aid for int'l students. so, that really doesn't work at all having to pay $25k up every yr by myself.
so, i'm looking for other schools...hopefully with a good financial aid.I know for transfer that would be tough, either way. but might as well give a shot than regret it later.

Well as an international student your financial aid is not going to be amazing anywhere really.

aslo many american schools dont accept past junior level transfer.

Make a list of schools your intrested in, and contact them regarding the possiblity of transfer at your current academic level.

How many units do u have/

My sister is looking into a 3-2 program. Reed College in Oregon does one with CalTech and RPI. I'm not sure if you could get in on that though. But it's a thread to pursue. Good luck!

thanks for replies so far.

I understand the issue over aid to any student. i can only try to find the best there is for me.Yes, i have a total of 65 credits completed so far.

BuzzinlikeNeon: whew! luks like yr sister is on a smooth ride to one of them. gud for her.

I'll see from my math department(they are usually retarded when it comes to helping ppl out) here may be. Or my general question is...can i go to any other college for a 3-2 program other than the one with official affiliation. (like U pitt, Penn state, Boston U).? I'll see and keep this thread updated.
