Oklahoma University vs Baylor

My son needs advice. He is unsure of his major. He wants to attend a University that will have many options. His main interests is studying abroad. He knows some about Baylor and very little about OU. We would love to learn as much about each University as possible. The student life, food, teacher's involvement, ....

Oklahoma has one of the best football teams in the nation and Baylor has THE best track team in the nation (see Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Warnier)

OU SUCKS, but im a longhorn, so baylor sucks too, but theyre not a threat

I think the biggest differences between the two lie more in student life than in education.

Baylor's basketball and football teams are abysmal, while OU's are quite good. I think attending game after game and losing would really damage the quality of life. And I think not attending games would damage it more.

Also, Waco is crappy and Norman is a nice little place. OU is also likely to be less expensive.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Baylor is a religious school (church is required) with a very conservative, upper-class student body. This can be good or bad, depending on your son. OU is not exactly a liberal hotbed either, but I think you'll find it's a little more moderate politically and more diverse economically and racially.

Yeah, Waco is awful, and people at Baylor are really conservative Christians. probably similar at OU though, but both schools are very good and are big enough to find any type of person you want

To keep his scholarships my son will have to maintain a 3.5 at Baylor. At OU he only needs a 2.5 to keep most and a 3.25 for the rest. He would be in the Honors programs at both schools. Baylor has so many premed students that academical it might be on a higher playing field than OU.
