I had a question on this SAT writing question.

The survey (A showed that) most shoppers who drive prefer the mall (B more than) downtown stores (C simply because) finding parking is (D less difficult) at the mall. (E)

I chose E as the answer because i didn't see anything wrong with the sentence. However, the correct answer is B.

why?

correct:
“prefer X to Y”
“prefer X over Y”
“prefer X rather than Y”
__He prefers coffee to tea
Most people prefer television over reading books

more info:
<a href=“I would rather X I´d prefer | WordReference Forums”>I would rather X I´d prefer | WordReference Forums;

incorrect:
“prefer…more than”
“prefer…than”

On the SAT, only “prefer X to Y” will be accepted.
