Old SAT, and a desperate kid in need of help

Hi all
Iam have taken the oct test and got 2280, 800 writing 800 math and 680 critical reading
I would retake it in jan but i have a few questions that are driving me maddd:

  1. Uwould a 2300+ be much better than a 2280?
  2. How can I posibly improve my cr score? I have read four jane austen novels, should I keep on reading or what?Iam aiming for a perfect score ( tho my highest in practice tests is just 740 or so ) but I feel like when it comes to reading iam lost. I cant be sure whether i am improving, am doing fine or not. HOW CAN ONE IMPROVE HER CR :<<<<<<<

Please reply please
Thanks

No, but any CR gains would help you, with 750+ as the ultimate goal but every increment approaching 750 as a potential benefit.

No wonder you are desperate! Reading 4 Jane Austin novels would make anyone desperate. Put them down. Why anyone would pick one up is beyond me. Seems like you would be better off to spend your time on more meaningful things if it is so difficult for you to raise your score on practice tests. NO a 2300 is not markedly better than a 2280. Move on!

Sacrilege!!! I LOVE Jane Austin. I rewatched “Pride & Prejudice” (the Colin Firth/ Jennifer Ehle mini-series version, not the totally dreadful Keira Knightly movie) last weekend and reread “Sense & Sensibility” on my long flight a couple of days ago.

Jane Austin is still relevant today. Heck-- the hit movie “Clueless” is a remake of Austin’s novel “Emma”.

But back to OP’s issue. A 2280 is no different than a 2300. Your time is better spent on the other portions of your application.

Thirding Jane Austen.

The Jennifer Ehle vs. Keira Knightly debate unfolded at a New year’s eve gathering I was just at. Not a fair comparison. The Ehle/Firth version so completely captures the book in such a definitive way that I am surprised they bothered to film another version. But if you want the short version, the Keira Knightly version isn’t really that bad. No pirates though.

WOW 2280??? Is this the first time you took the test?

Could you give some tips?
