i got a 780 CR, and 710 math on the old SAT, and im planning to take the new one in oct but am wondering how my old scores will factor in, especially at Cornell, BC, and U chicago…
thanks!

Well we can start speculating now, but to tell u the truth NONE of us will know how that will work, this is the first year for the new SAT and unfortunately u guys '06 and future'10 are the guinea pigs.
Sorry;-(

Each college is different, especially in this SAT transition year. Several LACs have said they will take the highest composite score using old and new SATs. Best advice is to check the website of the school in which you are interested for specific information.

Good luck!

The only advice I have is that everyone take the New SAT at least once since some college require that.

do ivies mix and match old with new?

I think gabe is right, we can only speculate. But, I'd speculate that the many schools (not the UC's) will mix and match (if they accept old test) since it is in their interest to do so....every adcom wants a press release that says 'that this year's accepted pool had the highest scores ever, yada, yada, yada'...

To obtain those data points, they'll likely give the benefit of doubt in the process, but just my speculation.

most schools are accepting both new and old SAT scores, as long as a writing score is included. i took the old sat for the first time last october and got m:800 v:760. but just in case, i took the sat II writing also. it was a relief not to worry about the new sat.

Some selective LAC's like Holy Cross and Bowdoin no longer require SAT's.
