older teens and cell phones

Hey all... was wondering if any of you do Net 10 pre-paid cell phones with your kids. My 17 yr old still does not have a phone and we were thinking that pre-paid might be the way to go so he can continue down that responsibility road. Saw them advertised and they looked decent. NET10. No Bills. No Contracts. No Evil.

any thoughts??

Hmmmmmmm. Links to a commercial. Seems peculiar. Other posts link to a commercial, too. Hmmmmm. Where's that button?

Do the pre-paids come with texting?
In the past year we added unlimited texting and cut back on our family shared minutes. It seems the kids mainly text.

Personally, if I was going for prepaid, I use GoPhone form AT&T or Tracphone from Walmart. I've never even heard of Net10.

The plan seems odd, but I think every teenager should have a cell phone. Think of it as an electronic leash. Yes, they're going to use it to talk to their friends, but it also works to your advantage because you can insist that they check in with you under whatever circumstances you dictate, and they have no excuse not to.

I think pre-paid is a great idea for teens. helps to teach responsibility and money management. And Net10 is great phone!

I love how subtle marketing is these days.

You've all seen that "Report Problem Post" link at the bottom of every post, right?
