I'll be attending Ole Miss next year and I really would like to rush for a sorority. I have over a 3.0 gpa and tons of community service experience and leadership roles. However, I'm from New York and I was wondering if this can keep me from getting a bid? Thanks!

Being from New York will not prevent you from receiving bids. (Though some sororities seem to be more difficult for out of state students) Make sure you gather recommendation letters from each sorority represented on campus. Maximize your options (meaning return to all sororities that invite you back). Here is a link that might get you started on understanding the process at Ole Miss:

My daughter just applied…also from NY…also wanting to pledge a sorority. We’ve been doing lots of research. She is also applying to University of South Carolina, Mizzou, and possibly Alabama.

If she does end up going to Ole Miss maybe you two can help one another through rush ;-)
