My son is down to two. He has been accepted at several, but these two have given him the best offers so far. We are sitll hoping for more money to come from Ole Miss, but not sure. We have visited both, and either one will be a good fit. At Ole Miss, he is in Lott Leadership (declined SMBHC), received the max award for academic excellence and non resident, as well as a small Tech award. If he receives nothing else, direct costs would be $9602/year. At ULL, he has received max everything - Room/Board fully paid for, non resident tuition waiver, laptop computer for 4 years and a work study job (yes that’s part of the scholarship), plus $1200 for tuition. He would also be in the Honors Program. They tell us there are no other scholarships, so after direct costs it is about $8664. We are prepared to pay for/help with indirect costs. We felt the best way to compare was looking at direct costs only. His end goal is Law School. We feel Ole Miss would better prepare him for that. We have read about the partying and the greek life but we aren’t worried about him getting too involved. His goal is to get through college with as high of a GPA as possible to get scholarships for grad/law school.
Does anyone have any information that would help us make this decision? We have scoured the internet and he is even going for more visits over spring break to see if that helps.
Any and all information would be appreciated!
