ole miss

I recently applied to ole miss, I am a senior and an out of state applicant. I have a 3.0 GPA and an 18 on my ACT. What are my chances of getting into ole miss??? NEED HELP ASAP

Olemiss13400, unless you are black or perhaps Hispanic you may have some trouble with those numbers. Ole Miss now has a 60 percent acceptance rate, which is far below the 80 percent from a few years back.

My guess is that if you were from Mississippi you would be admitted. But the standards for out-of-state students is higher. Out-of-state students already make up a majority of admitted freshman, and if these students were treated the same as Mississippi students it likely would go to 70 percent or more.

Horrible ACT score, decent GPA. I’d say you have a chance but don’t bet on it.

retake the ACT.

Retaking the ACT is a good idea, especially if your score was low because you had trouble finishing in a timely manner. My nephew is a slow worker, and his first try on the ACT was a 24. He took it eight times, and eventually got it up to a 34.

Ole Miss had automatic admissions if you meet a specific GPA and test score. This year i think the out of state requirements are a 2.5 GPA and a 20 ACT. Check the website to be sure though

Ole Miss grants out-of-state residents automatic admission with a 2.5 gpa in a college prep curriculum and a 21 on the ACT. Those not meeting these standards are encouraged to apply for consideration. Here’s the link:

In-state applicants are automatically admitted with a 2.5 gpa and a 16 on the ACT or a 2.0 gpa and an 18 on the ACT, or a 3.2 gpa without the ACT. There are a few additional ways of getting in-state admission.

I’d love to see the graduation rate for those admitted with a 16 on the ACT.
