Hi, I want to know more about Olin Business School. I want to study business (economics) for my undergraduates study and go to a medical school.

I may be wrong on this, but being an economics major is not in the business school, right? It is in Arts & Sciences I think. I do know that being an econ major and studying business are two very different things.

I think there may be an econ major in the business school (as well as one in artsci), seeing as how the b-school kids take different micro and macro classes.

Fallenchemist is correct, economics is an arts and sciences major. However there is a major in the business school called managerial economics.

So I guess the question for the OP is, did you really mean a pure Econ major and therefore the Olin school is not so relevant, or …?

Or you can have a double major - One in Olin and the second in A&S. Get the best of both worlds.

Or if you’re feeling especially adventurous you could go for a dual degree program for a business degree and some sort of economics from A&S. As far as Olin goes I just know about rankings where all the information I’ve seen ranks it as one of the best undergrad business programs in the nation. At a graduate level its still top 25 (which is nothing to scoff at, but it’s not Wharton either). Economics at WU also has been getting good praise lately for having an increasingly productive faculty which reflects well as a student of that body.

Just my 2 cents

IMHO, undergrad rankings are especially worthless. The bottom line is that like virtually all departments at Wash U, this one will give you an excellent education, absolutely no doubt. Worrying about whether it is ranked #2 or #15 is just plain silly, as you will understand when you finish as an undergrad.
