Olin vs. Georgia Tech Honors

Congrats OP on making a decision. For some students, the decision to go to Olin is really hard, for others, its as if no other school could possibly be what they wanted.

I know that I’m late in the game, but I did have some comments.

In comment 32 you said “I had a technical job interview with a large engineering company last week, and they mentioned that while Olin students may make great managers and designers, they’re more skeptical of their technical abilities.”

Everyone at Olin has heard stories about how Oliners come out on top, no matter the situation. This blog is a good one that I think reflects one possible situation.

I feel that the blogs give a good insight into the culture and student body of the school. If you haven’t spent time looking at them, it would be time well spent.

My D had a hard time deciding between a well established school and Olin. (not GT, but similarly established and respected) She literally could not decide. Her heart wanted Olin and her brain felt that the well established school would give her more research and job opportunities. The truth is, there is no right or wrong choice. I know that she would have done great at either school. For her, it came down to what made her happy. The people at Olin made her happy. They still do. She is clearly having the time of her life. As a first year, she has a corporate internship set up for the summer.

When you get to Olin, you’ll realize that your experience is what you make of it. Take the opportunities. Step outside your comfort zone. Ask your questions. You never know what the answers are going to be.

Best of luck.
