Olive League

I'm surprised no one has suggested the Palmolive league, and tried to get a corporate sponsor.

Palmolive League- IMO we have a winner. Great idea.

BTW- to the post above I'm quite certain I saw Stanford at a meet at Pomona. There were any number of D-1 and D-3 schools there from all over. Some sort of invitational I believe. Could be wrong as there were so many schools there, but D-1 and 2 and 3 schools compete against each other in various sports all the time. In the most technical sense the distinction refers to certain rules as to scholarships, number of games you can play, etc. while in reality it may translate to this, but it is not a classification based on quality or skill level.

... and no one is seriously suggesting that Stanford play CalTech in football. This thread is supposed to be, I thought, for some light entertainment.

I'd also like to note the great post above that the IVY League is just that, it is a sports conference. That's why those schools have that name. The tag has just grown to mean far more in terms of labels and presumptions and the grouping of these schools to the exclusion of others.

I agree with t1388 and kates1422. Now, if we're making a "good west coast school" name-league-association, then we might be going somewhere.

pomona is missing. it should be after berk. is UCSD good enough to be 5 or 6?

Since there is an Ivy League for private expensive universities on the east coast. I think I should make one for the west coast.

LOL private expensive universities like this "UC Los Angeles" and this "UC San Diego". These schools don't sound private to me!

i'm all in favor of this idea. but, we had it first ;).
