I’m surprised to not see this posted here yet as many/most of us we young in the 70s and either knew Grease or her music (Lets Get Physical ) .
She seems like a gentle soul. Often soft spoken ? A breast cancer survivor for so long.

I have always been a fan and I am so sad to hear about her passing. This was the first record I got of hers in 1974.

I remember that I told my mom how much I loved her haircut (my hair was also her color) and my mom made me an appointment with her hairdresser to get my haircut.
I remember how much both of my girls loved watching Grease and singing the songs.
I tried. I kept getting a 502 error.
Yesterday, on the season premiere of the Australian version of The Masked Singer, one of the contestants performed Xanadu
and one of the judge’s guesses of who is behind the mask was Chloe Lattanzi. Eerie.
Anyway, ONJ fought a long and hard fight. May she rest in peace.
My sister was obsessed with ONJ when we were younger. I got a text from my sister this afternoon that read “My Olivia ”
I didn’t even have to ask - I knew it meant ONJ had died. While I liked her, I wasn’t much into musicians and movie stars, but oh my, my sister was the ultimate fan. When we took a cross country trip together in high school to visit our brother who lived in N. Hollywood, my sister even made me go with her to ONJ’s store, Koala Blue, on Melrose Avenue. She was such a large part of my memories of high school b/c of my sister’s obsession with her, constantly blaring her albums, and singing along. She had scrapbooks, posters, etc.
RIP ONJ
Granddaughter of Nobel prize winning physicist Max Born.
I totally wanted to be Olivia Newton John when I was growing up. She dealt with breast cancer for many years. Sad to see her go!
So sad.
There is a tribute in our local paper. She hosted the inaugural concert at our McCaw hall.
When I was a kid I saved up my allowance money to buy her single ‘Hopelessly devoted to you’ I got to the record store and they were sold out so I had to buy her next single ‘A little more love’. She was my first ever record purchase and will always hold a soft spot in my heart.
I was just thinking about her the other day! I had read that her cancer had returned at the base of her spine and that sounded ominous. Then I realized I hadn’t heard anything about her in a long while, and I thought that probably meant she was living her last months in peace and privacy with her family. Turned out to be all too true.
RIP Oliva.
I watched an interview with her within the past year or so. She seemed to have come to terms with the reality of her situation, and she was living her life to the end. I hope she passed peacefully. She was such a kind and gentle woman.
I was truly shocked to see this news. I was a big fan back in the day. Everyone loved her in Grease, as I did, but I was crazy about Xanadu. Rest in peace, lovely lady.
A couple of days ago I heard that Australia was mourning the death of Judith Durham of The Seekers and now Olivia Newton-John. Sad to hear the loss of these great singers. I liked Have You Never Been Mellow and her duet with John Denver, “Fly Away”.
Me to DS (listening to the Grease soundtrack): “I’m so sad, Olivia Newton-John died today. Do you know who she is?”
DS: “Of course I know her. Her grandfather won the Nobel Prize in Physics!”
That’s my boy
RIP Sandy/Terpischore
