Olsen twins

This may sound stupid... but have any of you NYU students seen them around campus or had a class with them?? I'm wondering if the increased competition I've been hearing about this year has anything to do with all the hype about them.

they hardly show up to class, and i highly doubt it has anything to do with increased competition. If your smart enough to go to NYU, then your smart enough to not base your college education on 2 ugly chicks who harldy ever go to class. It is possible the news coverage has introduced more people to NYU, but I highly doubt that also. NYU's reputation is just increasing due to noble prize winners and executives in fortune 500 companies and such.

how do you know they hardly ever come to class? Do you have a class w/them or something?
Also, I highly doubt that the coverage of the twins hasn't affected NYUs rep. R U kidding me?! All the little girls who religiously watched the olsen twins are probably planning to go to the university when they grow up or something. Also, most people (i'm not saying all....but a majority) aren't really that clued in as to who has just won a nobel prize or w/e.......so yeah u're probably right about SOME people liking NYU more b/c of the prize winners and stuff, but I doubt MOST people r being turned on to NYU by it.

i talk to people who have classes with them, they say they hardly come in, and there is massive speculation they are going to drop out.

Its possible the additional media coverage due to the olsen twins going to nyu has informed more people about NYU , and they decided it was a good fit. I refuse to believe that people with 1400+ sat scores would pay $40k a year just for a chance to see a movie store, that is the most ludicrous idea i have ever heard.. worse than Bush's foriegn policy. The olsens twins havent had a succesful show or movie or anything since they reached puberty,, and they look like old ladies. I dont know of anybody who even finds them interesting besides the media.

I find them interesting.

um im going to party with the olsen twins

I'll see you at the party.

i dun wanna party with them ,they dirty, the probably have aids from all the herione injections.

I think so many more people know about Gallatin because of them. Before they enrolled, people didn't know what it was or how it worked. I really think that all their publicity has brought a LOT of attention to Gallatin. I don't think people want to go BECAUSE the Olsen twons go there, but I think they made a lot more people aware that a school of individualized study exists at NYU.

i agree with chrisso, tho im sitll not sure exactly how it works lol

They go to class, I know first hand, but there is no need to divulge anymore except they are normal students and the school population in general, like most New Yorkers, acts blase towards them, or any celebrity for that matter.

I agree with Matt. Its an insult to NYU students to even suggest they go to the school because of a couple of girls who starred in a corny tv show. This is the equivalent of suggesting people go to Princeton because of Lauren Bush (as respectable of a reason as that would be since she does rock).

NYU's rep was already pretty steller pre-Olsen twins. These are some of the smartest college students anywhere, and NYU is one of the most expensive schools...the decision to apply and then attend would have nothing to do with the Olsen twins or any other celebrity for that matter.

not to be rude, but I didn't know the Olsen twins were even smart. I was actually shocked when I found out they were planning on going to NYU....
sorry I know this has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the conversation- i just thought I would say what's on my mind

They do have impressive resumes.

are they smart? or did they get in coz they're famous?

Impressive resumes? I don't consider being a baby on a television series, doing lots of straight to video movies, and overall showing very little talent to be impressive.

better than most of our EC's, i'm sure making millions, running your own business, and keeping up with school work is seen as impressive by colleges

It wasn't their resumes which got them in, it was their academic records, just like everyone else. :) My D has a friend who went to h/s with them in California and they were both good students.

I doubt it because my friend's brother's friend's dog's dogsitter's grandma's grandson said that they are not good academically.

ps. no offense, but you have to be a bit ignorant to believe that.

kiki81ny - you left out that show they did "Two of a Kind". I liked that show. They have their own clothing-line also.
