Olsen twins

Well, j10, considering that my D, the mentioned friend, and the twins are all current students at NYU, I'd say it would be safe in believing what I said, as always.

And just a word of advice, you should be careful calling people ignorant. Rude people have a way of getting themselves banned on these forums. :)

lololol yea she's right. you should be careful ;)

My friend at NYU actually heard that they do go to class and seem to be actively participating as well.

I am always a little freaked out by all the parents who post on college confidential. It's just sooo weird.

I think that the Olsen Twins got in to NYU because they are famous, plain and simple. Being a movie star and making millions of dollars is a pretty good EC activity, not one that many of us can beat, for sure. A lot of famous actors and actresses attend Ivy league schools, (Julia Stiles, Natalie Portman) Do I believe that the deserve to be there academically? Not a chance. However, they are good actors and pretty famous, so thats why they got in.

The Olsens are more than just movie stars... they have their own business.
Go here: http://newyorkminutemovie.warnerbros.com/index_flash.html and click on "About The Film" and then "Seventeen and The City". They deserve a lot more credit than people are giving them.

hahahah how funny!! there's a whole thread about the olsen twins.
i find them rather irritating, and i was really surprised that they even got into NYU.. it's probably cus of their "celebrity" status. i didn't think that they were smart...

but then again people like julia stiles at columbia, natalie portman at harvard and claire danes at yale, seem to have more of a brain.. so i dunno... maybe the olsen twins aren't that dumb!! after all, aren't they the richest teens in the world?

and doesn't the bush girl go to yale not princeton?

"I am always a little freaked out by all the parents who post on college confidential. It's just sooo weird."

yeah, me too.

HAHHAAHA.... aww!! some parents on here are sooo nice :)
they're really supportive and helpful.

but yes i know what you mean.. i can see why you think it's a lil weird.. but hey! everyone uses the internet nowadays! - so it's totally understandable.. and parents are really concerned and want to be involved with their kids' college process!

i have come across some really weird parents though.. actually only ONE mother to be specific. she was just too in-my-face, analyzing my personality, giving me advice that was not needed and not wanted, and commenting rather rudely... but other than her, every other parent i've come across seem to be soooooo nice!

the ones with "mom" at the end of their SN are not real moms but spies!

hahahaha, i could believe that. it just sickens me when theyre like "well my D got into Harvard, so now I can happily live vicariously through her :)"

"it just sickens me when theyre like "well my D got into Harvard, so now I can happily live vicariously through her "

exactly. when it came down to colleges, my parents did nothing but pay the application fees. i dont understand how parents expect their kids to live on their own in college when they can't even apply without their parent's help.

j10 your gunna get banned for that kinda of talk lol

parents are usually helpful, but they are something a little condescending, and think they know more than the applicants. But I feel the applicants for the most part have done more research and have a better understanding than the parents, especially about the social issues in which the parents are probably out of touch with.

David I agree with you, my parents didnt even know what colleges I was applying to lol, I just used my credit card to pay for applicants and such, and told them to reimburse me.

i love parents who goes online to help their children. that shows passion. yayyyyyyy!

natalie portman is insanely smart. she graduated like top of her HS class and stuff.

j10cpc5000, whoa you're just showing your ignorance with those comments. I've been lurking here for over a year and just now signed up for a new user name since the forums changed over. If it weren't for the knowledgable parents, most of the information received here would be useless. Did ya ever think that most kids here aren't even in college yet and thus have no idea how to answer most of these questions? It's obvious your parents didn't help you but lots of kids have parents who actually want to be involved with their kids' decisions about college. Don't knock it just because your parents weren't involved. And your comment about housewives is just plain dumb. You should check out the post on the parents' forum about adcoms reading these boards. You better watch out!

yeah but this IS a site intended for highschool kids. and i also dislike the vague threats the parents are always leaving when someone gets 'smart' with them.
i just wonder where these parents find the time to hang out on a teen college website, cuz my parents sure as heck have better things to do.

This site is for gathering information about college admissions and I haven't seen anywhere that says it's for only high school students. The site is run and moderated by adults, and there are hundreds of adult/parent members who post regularly. Most kids have input and help from their parents when they're applying to college. For those who don't, they should appreciate the parents who help here. I've seen a lot of kids get really rude here and they deserve the comments they get from the parents if they're rude. I doubt they speak to their parents that way. I havent seen many parents be rude to kids.

parents are just everywhere nowadays. if i want to ask my mom a question, i will. these ones here generally stick to their forum, but they also lurk in other places, commenting only when they see fit to grace us with their infinite wisdom. like now. :)

Yes, I am ignorant.

Felicity helped NYU.
