Hi guys, last year I took the local exam for Chemistry Olympiad, but got third at my school by 1 pt and couldn't take the national test. This year, I am planning on prepping for the Physics Olympiad exam. I'm gonna be taking Physics C Mechanics (we only offer 1 C at a time); last year I took AP Chem. Based on the amount of preparation required for each test and taking into account how busy junior year is going to be with school and extracurriculars, do you think it would be a better idea to focus on one of the two ones (if so, which), or to try and take on both?

I took the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam this spring (as a junior). I had a lot of fun, but the national exam is WAY harder than the local. You should check out the Chemistry Olympiad web site; there are previous exams there. I don’t know about the Physics Olympiad, but it’s probably about as tough. I would suggest choosing one; probably Physics.

Thanks for the input! I’ve looked through all the local exams on the website, but I didn’t check the national ones because last year I figured I would only do that once I qualified…and I didn’t.
