Olympics!

phepls' last race was amazing!! his reaction along with everyone else's was priceless

I have decided that I am a big fan of Dara Torres. :) She is such an amazing person! She told an official to hold up the race because another athlete had ripped their suit right before the race, and then she goes and gets gold!

^^i saw that! i thought that was pretty amazing too

Yay for the her.

she uh ... didn't win gold ... the races in the women's 50 free today were semi's ...

the finals are tomorrow. she qualified first though, i think. yay for lane 4.

I just got home from a really long flight, and literally everyone on the whole plane was watching the olympics in the back-of-the-seat TV's when Phelps was swimming tonight (I peeked up and down the aisle & every TV was tuned to NBC)

When he won the whole plane just burst into applause - that by itself was almost as amazing as watching him win the 7th gold...

OMG Canada FINALLY got medals!!

phelps did really wellll.. but you have to say he got the luck too to be o.o1 ahead.. the reason i say so was when both of them were near the finishing touch.. phelps was lucky in the sense that he was in the middle of his stroke above the water while the serb just finished his last stroke and had to touch thru the water..

YOU: It was partially luck, totally. But it was partially good thinking. Both of them were in the position where they had to decide between gliding into the wall and taking another stroke. The guy representing Serbia went for gliding, Phleps took the other stroke. Normally gliding is the right call, but it turns out Phelps was right this time.

Some luck, TOTALLY. But also a good call.

The Serb had to glide, taking another stroke would have been worse for him. And Phelps could only take another stroke because it would have been too far to glide.

It wasn't to far for Phelps to glide. If it was a prelim and he was ahead by a body length he would have glided into the wall and not have taken the half stroke. If he didn't even complete a full stroke before touching the wall it certainly wasn't too far for him to glide.

He knew that Cavic was going to touch first if he glided along with him so he took the risk and went for the half stroke. Sorry but theres no luck there, that is just incredible awareness and strength from Phelps to take the last stroke.

Or it was just luck...

Both are just as likely IMO.

Am I The Only One Impressed With Men 100m Finals World Record Run By Usain Bolt First Man Ever To Break 9.6 It Was Pretty Awesome Well Beyond Awesome But Still Looked Like An Easy Race But As A Jamaican I Am Estatic, The Country Is In A Frenzy
Jamaica Takes Gold From The Flipping World

^^^I haven't seen it alas, but I read the news. Sounds awesome, Bolt is crazy fast

Bolt was nuts.. he was celebrating before the finishing line..

there was definitely luck.. but you have to have the ability to earn the luck and phelps was great.. I am not trying to play down his achievement (8 GOLDS).. but there's definitely some luck

The Flood Gates Have Been Opened Jamaica Cannot Be Stopped I Predict A Sweep In The All The Sprints Including The Relays 1, 2 And Get This 2 In The Women's 100m Finals There Is No Place For Bronze The Country Is Going Crazy Worse Than Yesterday In Jamaica Parlance Di Country A Mash Up ,this Is Going To Be The Greatest Olympics Ever For My Country Whoo Jamaica To The Flipping World, Black Green An Gold Straight The Gold In Our Flag Predicted It. I Am On Such A High Right Now I Think I'm Floating, Can You Feel My Excitement I'm Ecstatic I'm Going To Need A Sedative But For Now I'm Going To Go And Scream Some More Whoo It's Just Amazing

Now I am getting cross now the Americans want to claim the bronze that is so not fair because never in Olympic history someone has gotten a medal for finishing fourth tie for silver or not they need to get a grip and accept their lost and stop try to sneak on to our podium

im soooo agreein with abfab lisa rite now..they need to sit their asses down and accept deafeat

In addition it is written in the rule book 2008 edition i checked that if there is a tie for second the bronze spot is immediately eliminated and the results that follow is fourth fifth etc. and now it seems if that protest fail they want to rerun the race claiming a false start which i even spotted a slight movement but it was by there athlete and that actually threw off our athlete kerron Stewart that's why she started so badly because she was race favorite but yet she made up for it and got her silver that shows real class and talent but do you here we complaining, besides its obvious that it was not much movement seeing as she obviously never triggered off the pressure blocks because the starter obviously did not hear a beep so I think it should stand, they are disgusting GOD accept it and done you lost you god forsaking lost all flipping three of you move on and concentrate on some thing else . I tell you even if they do run over that race they Jamaicans will come back with a vengeance and whoop their ass by an even larger margin just to ,make sure it sinks into their thick skulls

and they lost by a considerable margin might I add, by a big margin actually considering its a final
