Oh, and FedEx-Kinkos are open today (Jan 1). That's how I was planning on getting mine out... it's how I got out my EA on the day of. Haha. ohhhh procrastinators. sigh.

additionally, it won't be exorbitantly expensive because you don't need same day delivery. you just need for it to be postmarked by jan 1, not for it to be delivered by jan 1.

Most post offices have self service kisoks in their lobby now, where you can print a priority mail label with the date of Jan 1st. If you NEED a Jan 1st postmark, that is your solution. You can print a regular mail label also for oversized envelopes. Just visit a post office or two. All our local post offices have them.

I think there is a way to print out your postage on line from the USPS...I remember there being a thread on this last year. It would show today's date.

Both sunnyflorida's and boysx3's ideas are good.

Also, it's not the case that every post office in the country is closed. For example, in New York City, the James A. Farley Post Office at 421 8th Ave. is open 24/7/365. Not sure if there are similar post offices in other cities, but it might be worth checking out for those of you who live in a metropolitan area.

Were the post offices open today on Jan 2nd? I read something about Gerald Ford and Bush declaring it a national holiday a while back...

No, Jan 2 is NOT a public holiday. The post offices were open.
