I have like a 2.89 GPA, hopefully, by the end of this year it will be a 3.0 (Prays).

I am a junior and I would like to attend Sweet Briar college in Virginia

-almost a 3.0
-minority
-sister is alumni
-I made the honor roll a few times
- Key Club, Spanish Club, Art Club, Book Club, Track....
-top 50%
- For the fake ACT last year my estimated score was 21-23
-hopefully I should get a 23.
- I am applying early decision

Sweet briar has an average GPA of 3.4, act of 22, and 43 people applied ED and 40 people were accepted ED

Focus on making this your best year ever academically. While not as good as great grades throughout high school, a significant rising trend will help.

Your GPA means that Sweet Briar will likely be in the reasonable reach/reachy make for you. Playing the ED card - if finances are not a problem - is a good move. Make sure that you have offiically visited, and interviewed (if that is offered).

I think you have a pretty good shot, but you will also need to find a couple of matches and a safety or two if you need to go to plan b. Fortunately, you have time to do all this.

I would also just like to point out that 22% of Sweet Briar's acceptees had a GPA of 2.99 or lower.

Finances are not a problem. And I have officially visited for my sister's graduation there.

What is a reach?
And what could be a possible Plan B?

Some of my other choices are: St.Bonaventure University, Catholic University of America, UW Oshkosh ( I am from Wisconsin), Depaul University and Eckerd College.

I would really appreciate if someone replied? Thanks :)

ok will someone please reply. I am really not patient at all.

St. Bonaventure looks like a match. The admissions criteria page for Oshkosh was down, so I can't tell if UW is a match or a safe match. Catholic and Eckerd will be be more difficult, but worth applying to. DePaul is in the reach category - but not impossible, especially if they know your school.

Thank you so much Ohio_mom.

But Sweet Briar is my #1 and I am definitley applying to the other schools I listed. What is a reach school?

Will someone please reply before I kill myself?

You seem to have good chances. Remember...colleges like to see improvement. If your school offers it...take a challenging course. Also, it's really nice to see real people on this site who aren't making up stats and stuff. Best of luck. I know how it is to really want to go somewhere.

Yeah I plan on getting straight A's the rest of the year, because I have easier classes now. All my classes first term were challenging.

People lie about their stats? Wow.....
